About Me:

Just an average girl seeking interesting people.  I'm open-minded and can talk about pretty much everything. Sense of humor is a must, though.

Requests:

Interesting people, closet superheroes, space cowboys, bona fide extraterrestrials, or superintelligent shades of the color blue.  As long as you're mostly sane and reasonably courteous, I'd love to chat. :)

Let me be clear: I am NOT interested in anything involving cybering or any of that nonsense.  I have ZERO interest in seeing anyone naked on a webcam.  If you're "married and flirting", spare me.  Genuine people only, please.

Also, I do not add anyone to my friends list without getting to know a little about them first. If you start off by calling me "babe", "sweetie", "cutie" or anything even remotely similar your message will be deleted, no reply. Not that it matters what I say here because no one ever reads it anyway. *sigh*

Language Exchange Requests:

I'm semi-fluent in Spanish but would love to practice. I would also like to improve my French, which I've recently found sadly lacking.

Interests, Hobbies, etc.:

Fishing, hiking, camping, caving, and all kinds of outdoor activities. I'm an avid reader and I'm into sports (baseball, American football, hockey).  I also love silent films, exploring museums, and traveling all over the world.

Favorite Music:

I have a background in opera and musical theater and extremely eclectic tastes in popular music. My CD collection covers everything from ABBA to ZZ Top and pretty much every musical genre.  I find myself taking refuge in 90s alternative more often these days (Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, etc.) but I listen to a little of everything: jazz, country, oldies, hip hop, R&B, 80s metal (GNR, Queensryche, Def Leppard, gotta love Kip Winger).  A few of my all-time favorite artists in no particular order:

David Gray
Nick Cave
Ray LaMontagne
Dusty Springfield
U2
Alison Krauss
Nina Simone
Billy Idol
Robbie Robertson
Stone Temple Pilots
The Smiths
The Ramones
Jim Croce
Johnny Cash
David Bowie
Live
Garbage
The Wallflowers
Bic Runga
Cold Chisel

Favorite Movies:

Sooooo many movies...where to begin?  First off, I'm into silents.  I'm a card-carrying member of the Harold Lloyd fan club and I recognize the genius of D.W. Griffith, though it's not politically correct to say so these days.  A few of my more recent favorites:

300
Gladiator
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Star Wars (yes, all of them...even the prequels)
The Matrix
X-Men 1 & 2 (I'll pass on the third one)
Rocky
The Fountain
all the Alien movies (love strong sci fi heroines, Ripley rocks!)
Phantom of the Opera (1925 & 2004)
Bram Stoker's Dracula
Wayne's World (1 & 2...I can't help it, I love Mike Meyers)
Austin Powers (see above)
The Lost Boys
Harry Potter (every single one. Rickman makes Snape look good.)
The Crow

And my all-time favorite?  Okay, I'll admit it.  The Princess Bride.  Stop laughing. :p

Favorite TV Shows:

Who has time?  I'll admit to loving the reimagined Battlestar Galactica, which is, unfortunately, gone.  I used to adore Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.  They too are no more, sadly.  Haven't really found anything else that appeals to me...though I've been known to tune in to Ghost Hunters from time to time.  Grant and Jason are hot.

Favorite Books:

I read anything and everything I get my hands on, especially sci fi, fantasy, historical fiction, mysteries, and biographies.  A few of the books/authors I like:

Dragonlance (original Weis and Hickman chronicles)
Dune (original series by Frank Herbert...not the more recent additions)
Nora Roberts writing as J.D. Robb (futuristic crime, fantastic!)
Kim Harrison (The Hollows featuring Rachel Morgan)
Laurell K. Hamilton (Anita Blake rocked until she went all weird...everything up to Obsidian Butterfly is awesome)
Kelley Armstrong (Women of the Otherworld – amazing characters)
Agatha Christie
James Herriot (major comfort reading for me)
Marion Zimmer Bradley (Darkover novels, The Mists of Avalon)
Andre Norton
Douglas Adams
P.C. Hodgell
Roger Zelazny
David Eddings
Terry Pratchett
Diana Gabaldon
Jim Butcher (Harry Dresden!!!)

"I believe in God, only I spell it Nature." - Frank Lloyd Wright

"Some cause happiness wherever they go; others, whenever they go." - Oscar Wilde
