Hi Evadne
Thanks for your message. I am happy to write to you, but am afraid scones are beyond my baking skills.
However as a retired English teacher I share your love of Charles Dickens. I think Great Expectations is my favourite.

Hi, not really! I'll tell you a wonderful book to read; actually there are 2 books that follow on.
Try 'The Greatest Knight' by Elizabeth Chadwick! Oh my! Ok, a lot of medieval history, but written as a sort of romance; works very well.
I fell so in love with this 'greatest knight'! - so did all the female friends who borrowed the book.
The second book is called 'The Scarlet Lion' - just as good as the first. I think if you liked the 'Thorn birds' with all the religion, you should manage all the history in Chadwicks books. The story is quite compelling!
There are quite a lot of detective/romance books (popular novels - crime series - modern) but I forget the names of the writers.
I buy books on Amazon, because I live in a remote place and it's a good way to meet new authors.
M. R. Hall is another of my favourites, because he includes Wales in his books : -))) This ignored little country!
Wanna see it?

complaining is wasting your life - do sth unreasonable and enjoy the fruit of improvisation.

perhaps to show that ambition is cruel??

Was not the real loyalty to himself and his ambition? He broke most church rules along the way.

In real life people are not always so perfectly beautiful : -)) inside or out, but we are human nevertheless.

He was after this girl (he was attracted to her) when she was very young.
He needed a slap : -)))

What do you think? An unhealthy interest?

No, you aren't superficial, the priest was ;-)

I seem to read psychological thrillers or medical (not medical romance) or military books, especially submarine books : -)))

Oh yes, the thorn birds was a real heart breaker - until I read it the 3rd time and wanted to kick him in the nuts.
His ambition was more important that his faith or her; he used her - don't you think?
Thanks for photo comments : ))
