About Me:

Gotcha! NO Aussie, no down under here - sorry ... Austria instead :) So another hello to all those folks who still happily confuse Australia and Austria! OK silly camouflage, I know.
Typical Viennese (what a chimera) with some multiethnical background. Enjoying my hometown since over half a century with all pros and cons ... the usual love-hate story. Seeming day-dreamer, yet in fact busy hiring away the elves one day. Preferring tea over coffee, Cohen over Drescher and Evolutionism over Creationism. Seldomly serious, but won't mind a long letter every now and then. Just stop by my notes to learn more about me.
Ahhh: 5'8/137/A+ No blood donation. And yes, usually I can see my reflexion in the mirror.

Requests:

NO country addicted rodeofreaks (aka simple+down2earth), NO pet enthusiasts (16 cats, 9 turtles, 11 rattlers ), NO religious experts (Jesus loves you), NO mystics (prepare for apocalypse) please. Otherwise I'm pretty open. Well, almost ;-) By the way - don't get me wrong: I love animals! Had a dog myself long time ago. And NO, I'm not Dr. No.
Eccentrics, wackos and actually any kind of kindred spirits are most welcome. Seeking to improve my lousy English, so your support is greatly appreciated. Will return the favour as to your German skills in case.

Language Exchange Requests:

German - English: perhaps some tandem learning? Never tried that sort though. Apart from that German is no issue whatsoever to me, so English native speakers only please.

Interests, Hobbies, etc.:

Hobbies cover daydreaming, explaining the universe (don't worry, just to myself), planning odd crimes (the Stewie Griffin way) or psychoanalyzing my bracketitis (jeez, I hate it!) Then fiddling with my Paula (a Gibson replica) every now and then. Redesigning my rotten apartment  ... OK, just in my fantasies.
My interests? Arts, literature, politics, history, philosophy, humanities, psychology, media, everyday life (in no specific order). Inventing the perfect formula to predict my next steps and - as some balance for everyday life - DIY or gym. Always up for a good chat and some Scotch.

To sum up:
NO's:
- Kurt Cobain, is he really still alive?
- How to treat feline borreliosis
- Finding round trip tickets for you and your mom-in-law

Yes':
- Why do bastards live longer?
- How to prepare a mocking bird paste
- Aren't all Western Europeans genetically related to Charlesmagne?

Favorite Music:

Miles Davis, Frank Zappa (Shut Up'n Play Yer Guitar), JS Bach (all sonatas and partitas), John McLaughlin, Pat Metheny, Richard Wagner (overtures), Richard Strauss, Ravi Shankar (and his daughter Norah Jones) James Blood Ulmer, Philip Glass, Charlie Parker, Billie Holiday, Jeff Beck, John Brahms ...

Tired of scrolling? Here is some break:

Favorite Movies:

Drop Dead Gorgeous, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Fisher King, Brazil (all by Gilliam). Then Greenaway, Fellini, Buñuel, Saura, Bertolucci, von Trier, Carax ... just to name some of my favorite directors.
Well done: Bridget Jones’ Diary (Fielding), American Beauty. Look closer ... (Mendes), The Butterfly Effect (Bress, Gruber)

Favorite TV Shows:

Oldies but goodies: The Simpsons, King of Queens (go, Arthur go!), Beavis & Butthead, Weeds, Family Guy, South Park, Little Britain (love Vicky Pollard!) ...

Favorite Books:

His Master's Voice (Lem), Man Without Qualities (Musil), Light in August (Faulkner), Goedel, Escher, Bach (Hofstadter), My Childhood (Gorki), Lord of the Flies (Golding), The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind (Jaynes), Walden 2 (Skinner), Listen, Little Man! (Reich), The Lucifer Principle (Bloom) ...
Ahh - not to forget those fabulous Annales authors like Lucien Febvre. Great depictions of early European mentalities.

Favorite Quotes:

As I've matured ...
  1. I've learned that no matter how much I care, some people are just jacka**es.
  2. I've learned that you shouldn't compare yourself to others - they are more screwed up than you think.
  3. I've learned that you can keep vomiting long after you think you're finished.
  4. I've learned that I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy it.
  5. I've learned that the people you care most about in life are taken from you too soon and all the less important ones just never go away. And the real pains in the a** are permanent.
