About Me:

I am a 27 year old fiction writer from a town near Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada called Mission--the site of the first Canadian train robbery. I would like to create lasting friendships with cultured and fascinating women from all around the world, regardless of age. I am not much for small talk, as I prefer to sink my pen into the meatier issues, though discussions of the mundane, day to day details is also fascinating for a writer like me.

I am looking for deeply inquisitive and reasonably intellectual people who enjoy writing and reading long and frequent snail mail letters. I wish to talk about history, politics, literature, art, architecture, philosophy, sociology, string theory, anthropology--anything and everything as long as it is not vapid/superficial.That isn't to say, however, that I am uninterested in the day to day details of a friend's life--quite to the contrary! I want to know all about your likes, dislikes, the things you see and people you talk to, as well as what you think about the small things, the details. I believe in lifelong, passionate correspondences like people used to partake in one hundred years ago. I am keenly interested in other cultures and languages, people and their everyday lives as well as their deepest thoughts and imaginings. If you are likeminded, drop me a line, and let us see if we connect. Human connection is the entire reason for our existence.

Requests:

I am a devoted writer, and my envelopes arrive filled to bursting. I expect a similar devotion to letter writing in my penpals, so please be willing to do the same for me. Well, I don't mean that you have to write me a novel every time you drop me a line--but some effort would be nice in exchange for mine :-) I would like to have regular correspondence, not every day, or every week, but consistent where possible. Once a month, perhaps? :-) A dark and wry sense of humour is always welcome, or just a silly one. I am married, so I am not looking for romance, just meaningful friendship. Monosyllabic messages won't ellicit much of a response from me, so if I don't reply, please don't have hurt feelings. There are only so many hours in a day to reply to messages, so the more intriguing and heartfelt, the more likely you will be to get a response :-) Also, I have many people I am talking to at the moment, and I want to give my attention to them fully. So please understand if I decide not to respond to messages from folks I really don't feel I will connect with. It isn't a judgement, or anything--it is just a matter of fairness to the people I am already committed to.
