About Me:
日本語:
今日は。どぞよろしく。泰男です。十九、英の人の男です。プログラマです。私の好きなアニメしんちゃんです。私の好きな音楽パンクとバンド「The Offspring」です。私の大学「Liverpool John Moores」です、OKです。セイダー大好き。でも私もビール好き。
English:
Hi, I'm Gav to most people, or Matthew/ Matt to more of my closer friends, I've chosen the name 泰男(Yasuo,Peaceful Man) in Japanese and 현기 in Korean(hyun ki, wise energy). I'm 19, I live in Hightown which is in the countryside just outside of Liverpool which is my closest city.
I've just finished my last year of college studying on my second year of National Diploma Programming Java & .NET. I've been in college for three years due to my bad GCSEs(English marking system) in Highschool, I had to do a course before my last course. I am now going to LJMU(Liverpool John Moores) where I will be studing Computer Studies HND but hopefully will be moved up to software engineering if I do well in the first year(again down to me not have Maths C GCSE =( ).
I'm a nice, caring, lad who is a loyal friend and someone who is easy to get along with. I will support my friends and help them if I can, I will also listen to them and offer them advice on situations. I also(I'm not being a big head/big ego) see myself as one of only a few gentlemen in my country and I have respect for women and treat them and others how a gentleman would.
I hope to meet many different people through this pen pal network, and also I hope to travel the world some day(I hope to have a gap year after uni traveling across Europe and Asia) and meet people and discover other people's cultures along the way.
I especially liked meeting Chinese people who I played pool and had many, many drinks with while I was in Cuba. I communicated the best I could with my non existent Chinese and their poor English but hand signals worked, they where very nice people and very polite and considered me a friend. From that experience I think Chinese people are really polite(even when drunk) and a great laugh to hang with also very helpful(I went to the local Oriental supermarket recently). So I'm up for learning Chinese as I want to travel the world. It be nice to be able to communicate to people, especially if I'm gonna have a night of drinking with some Chinese again :D
Other than that I haven't really befriended any other people from other countries in real life, I have a mate from the Netherlands who I speak to online(In English).
I am currently learning Japanese. My pronunciation is fairly good, in my eyes, but I would of course need that confirmed. I seem to have recently clicked when it comes to pronunciation and I seem to be able to pronounce my words better or at least pronounce them sounding properly(from what I've heard what words sound like based on movies) a second time after reading them the first.
This is just a bit about me If you want to see a more in depth description about me see my Myspace which should be included somewhere. I'm the only Matthew Gavigan on it by the way from last time I checked.
By the way when I use any Japanese or Chinese or Korean for things like movies or bands it is not demonstrating my skills its just that I want to add it so you can understand the name. Others are copy and pastes of characters. Also since my kanji knowlege is bad I'll be using Katakana(for Pronunciation) unless I know otherwise.

Korean - Great Films
Chinese - Great people
French - been learning since Highschool
Please at least message or add a message on my wall before you add my MSN I want to know you a bit even if its just hi, I'm so and so I like so and so can I add you. and no I won't send you nak-ed pictures of myself(I'm not kidding either I have been asked).

Language Exchange Requests:
English - Native language
French - Good (not very good, but not bad, but not ok either)
Dutch - a few words
Chinese - None, some Japanese Kanji but they of course might not be the same in both drawing and meaning in Chinese.
Japanese - beginner, know a few words, particles, can write entire hiragana and know some but I'm learning katakana.
Btw this fields name is different from what I saw which was Language abilities / requests and is why I've listed my skill here.

Interests, Hobbies, etc.:
Computer Games
*First person shooters(Halo, FEAR, Quake 4, etc)
*Action Games(GTA series, 3 - San Andreas)
*Adventure games(Tomb Raider Anniversary)
*Strategy games(like Full Spectrum Warrior, Rome Total War)
*Emulators(PS1, GBA, N64, DS, Dreamcast, DOS)
I have these video game consoles, a Playstation, original Yellow coloured GameBoy, Dreamcast, Gamecube and a Xbox
Video Games (same genres except emulators of course)
*RPG's
*Resident Evil
*Tony Hawks Pro Skater
*Jet Set/Grind Radio + future
*Ninja Gaiden
*Halo 2
*Splinter Cell Series
*Crazy Taxi(original Dreamcast version)
*Skies of Arcadia
*Crash Bandicoot(Playstation)
Programming
*very good at Java
*Java Micro Edition(used on mobile phones)
*.NET
*VB6
*C++ wanna learn
*Assembly wanna learn
VMU(Dreamcast Memory Card) Programming which uses assembly
Game Editing/map creation
Game hacking
Linux, and learning how to use and edit Linux
Interested in electronics like robots(although i don't do it) but things like sending signals to devices to get them to do things, and display things intrigues me whether its a robot or a simple device like a microwave or TV.
Ok I sound like a complete nerd, I hope I'm using the word correct but I'm not totally an otaku.
I also get out and I enjoy
Badminton
Trampolining(I'm lucky I have a full size trampoline at home)
amateur; noobish; simple; free running and just jumping around a lot
I've been interested in Japan for quite some time, I love the culture and Japanese things. I like Ninjas, karaoke, the advanced technology that is associated with Japan, its city Tokyo, its honour, its history(which I'd like to learn more about both honour/politeness system and history as well as Japanese life/ culture) and also I'd like to taste Udon when I go to Japan because of a movie I've seen.
I'm also interested in the language and since I've been learning it I've found that I like it more than English and a lot of it makes more sense, I even like particles. From learning it, I love the way that some of it is simple(unlike our over complicated language) that I've been able to make my own sentences unlike in highschool were you're just fed phases to use without understanding how to construct sentences and why things are but are just told they are. I am intrigued with why and not just it is.
I studied French in highschool and was quite good so I'm open to relearning French. Hopefully if this does happen someone would be able to explain it better so I could form my own sentences and understand the language better. I of course would offer my help with English but with education in other countries I doubt that I would be much help except for slang words and maybe hearing pronunciation or spelling of words.
I'm also interested in Learning Dutch as you guys speak English as good and even better than ourselves, like I mentioned I have a dutch friend who I keep in contact with through MSN, so I wouldn't also mind learning dutch, I know a bit but not a lot.
My main interest is Japanese and that is my main priority language that I'm focusing on.
From reading my favourite movies you will notice that most(if not a majority) of my favourite foreign movies are Korean. From my love of Korean Cinema, Korea has intrigued me and so I would like to get to know South Korea more and also I'd like to learn Korean.

Favorite Movies:
This is a large list, so that there is topics that I can talk to people about. I felt it would be good to post as many movies that I like, it would help when it comes to avoid teaching phases as discussing movies uses a wide array of words, not just stupid phases that you get taught like I like this I hate that etc.

Favorite Quotes:
**** off with your sofa units and strine green stripe patterns, I say never be complete, I say stop being perfect, I say let... lets evolve, let the chips fall where they may. - Meaning people should stop being perfect and trying to control every part of there lives, something I feel all of us would find hard to break out of.
