About Me:

I am a 20 year old college student at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California.  This school year  I am studying abroad in Lausanne, Switzerland for the year, but I plan on doing a lot of travelling.  I was hoping to get to know some people over in Europe, especially in Lausanne or anywhere in Switzerland.  Because I plan on doing a lot of travelling, I would love to meet people and have them show me their area of the world.  I am fascinated by other cultures/traditions.  In return, I would be happy to show people some of the United States, when I return.  I am working on learning french, but I only know some right now.  I would be interested in just having a conversation with anyone interested.  Also, I am a business major who is looking for a internship/job over the summer.  I am looking in banking/ finances, so if anybody has some suggestions, I would love to stay and work in Euorpe!

Requests:

I am just looking to meet people that live in Europe.  I want to have some idea what to expect while I am here.  I have done a decent amount of travelling, so I would be willing to help anyone that wants to come to the U.S. or know more about it.  I just like to have conversations with interesting people!  Also, any summer internship/jobs suggestions would be appreciated.

Language Exchange Requests:

I have taken 2 years of college french, and I am hoping to continue to imporve on that.  I am fluent in English, so I could help someone that would want to learn that.

Interests, Hobbies, etc.:

I enjoy being active and playing baseball and basketball.  I like to be outside especially when the weather is nice.  I love to go to the beach when I can, but unfortunately I am not in Malibu right now.  I also like hanging out with friends and trying new things.  I am also extremely exicted by the opporunity to do travel in Europe!

Favorite Music:

I like pretty much any type of music.  I especially like older music (70's & 80's).  If I had to pick a genre I would probably say soft rock.  My favorite band would probably be the Beach Boys because they remind me of California!

Favorite Movies:

I don't seem to see many movies (never have time), but when I do,I usually like to see a comedy.  I love having a good laugh.  I don't think I could really pick a favorite.

Favorite TV Shows:

I watch mostly sports on TV (baseball, basketball, and American football).  I also like to watch M*A*S*H*, House  (Hugh Laurie is hilarious!), and Psych when I can.

Favorite Books:

I have read a lot of books, and I enjoy almost all of them.  My favorites would definately be the Harry Potter series.  I usually sit down and read them in about 2 days!

Favorite Quotes:

thanks heap again. I think I will be in a similar position as you because I think that I will choose to go have a room & board in a college. Yeah food will be a challenge for me, I'll really have a good think about that before I go because I believe that I have to learn to make my own food that will definitely be cheaper in any case. LOL I just have to convince myself that my food is good food haha
ohhhh Books same as US, ummm I heard that in the US books are very expensive... I'm studying intl. relations so I dont think it would be textbooky, I really hope it is just like a recommended reading list and some course notes...
How do you get around? Do you hire a bike?
ohh the other thing I was going to ask was about your room. Is it a single room? cos idk I like my own room, but I prefer living with people lol Is it like a dorm style set-up? I wouldn't want like a hotel where you are just there in your room you know but get to know the people you 'live' with.. lol I want to make friends, its soo hard being all foreign, that's my concern I guess..
hope you are having a great day.

hey greg ^^ thanks for the contact/
I was doing my expenses some before and I just find it hard to calculate cos I really have no idea what it will be like there...
If you dont mind me asking, how much is it like for food in a week there? and are there other huge living expenses to cover? Are the books for uni/college expensive???
lol I calculated so far that for 6 months it would be like 9,413CHF, (having like a 500CHF rent); I dont know if that is too under-estimated or over-estimated. Would you be able to give me an indication?
Thanks a lot for everything mate. Oh I wish I can give something in return!
cheers,

ohh yeah I have to think about insurance too.. With the eurorail pass do you think its cheaper?? Is it like a value-pack of 24 rail rides? I mean I will probably be going on a train ride on weekends if I have time. yeah sometimes I think flights but even be cheaper if the train tickets are so expensive..

cool, cool. hehe I was actually planning to be a vegetarian when I get there so I can save money and not eat meat! hehe our exchange is more or less like the USD to CHF because we are reaching parity with USD (1AUD=0.93USD), hopefully by next year they say.
Is it better to live in one of the colleges at uni or like in a share house?
