About Me:
I am a Canadian born guitarist who lives and teaches in the USA (New York) but have traveled to Europe numerous times. My family is from Germany on my fathers side. I actually have dual citizenship which enables me to travel without much restriction.
I am a professional guitarist, playing 20+ years. I have a background and extensive training in popular styles such as progressive rock/metal, classical and jazz. I was a former music major in college and played in numerous local bands, some which were featured throughout European music magazines, fanzines via distribution deals for various demos. I have very diverse musical tastes which run the gamut of genre's from one extreme to the other. Since I don't believe in self limitations, this diversity helps to fuel the fire of musical curiosity.
I am open to communication and possible future collaboration with individuals who are creative by nature: musicians, artists, writers or any such beatnik & bohemian esoteric souls be they 420 friendly:) or not. Especially other instrumentalists: guitar, bass, violin, piano...etc in any style of music. I have training in Blues, Progressive Rock, Neo-classical (Yngwie, Vinnie Moore, Uli Roth) Classical and Jazz. I am heavily into theory application, composition and improvisation. So anyone with a similar background or interest would be most welcome.
I am into progressive players like Pat Martino, Al Di Meola & Jimmy Bruno but I still enjoy the heavy aggressive vibe of metal as well as some techno and classic hip hop: KRS One, Ice T, Cypress Hills, Digable Planets...
However, all are welcome to write especially concerning the language exchange. I would be curious to hear what anyone's experience is with learning various languages and what methodology. Although I would assume since this site is international, first hand experience probably plays a key role.
I also enjoy conversing about politics, especially current but also historical and social issues as well. I am libertarian/constitutionalist and a strong proponent of the Bill of Rights. I am opposed to the left/right paradigm and group think in American politics.
I am also into horror/sci-fi movies, especially underground and foreign. (French & Italian) I am a big fan of directors such as George Romero, Lucio Fulci and Dario Argento. I also watch a ton of documentaries as well, most are politically based but many are also on social issues.
I have a background in boxing and martial arts but obviously music is my main passion. I have studied traditional Chinese Kung Fu: Shaolin southern dragon system and Wu-Su. Now I am learning Philippine Arnis and the use of a balisong.

Requests:
Not sure what to put in this section? However, feel free to check out my personal web page links to myspace, facebook for audio and video samples of my playing and music. Right now I would like to begin work on a self produced album of my original work. I own a Roland BR1600CD for recording, so I am hoping to do an instrumental CD worth of new material.
Interests, Hobbies, etc.:
Guitar, Music Composition & Improvisation, Shred Guitar, Gear & Equipment. Boxing, traditional martial arts: Kung Fu, Arnis, Silat and modern arts such as Systema & Krav Maga

"In Beverley Hills, they don't throw their garbage away - they make it into television shows."
~Woody Allen
"When television came roaring in after the war (World War II) they did a little school survey asking children which they preferred and why - television or radio. And there was this 7-year-old boy who said he preferred radio "because the pictures were better."
~Alistair Cooke
"Television is not the Truth. Television is god-damned amusement park. Television is a circus, a carnival, a traveling troupe of acrobats, storytellers, dancers, singers, jugglers, sideshow freaks, lion tamers and football players. We're in the boredom killing business."
~Paddy Chayevsky

Favorite Quotes:
"If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need."
- Marcus Tullius Cicero
"Everyone carries a part of society on his shoulders; no one is relieved of his share of responsibility by others. And no one can find a safe way out for himself if society is sweeping towards destruction. Therefore, everyone, in his own interests, must thrust himself vigorously into the intellectual battle. None can stand aside with unconcern; the interests of everyone hangs on the results. Whether he chooses or not, every man is drawn into the greatest historical struggle, the decisive battle into which our epoch [period] has plunged us."
- Walter E. Williams
"Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy, it is the wine of a new procreation, and I am Bacchus who presses out this glorious wine for men and makes them drunk with the spirit.
- Ludwig van Beethoven, quoted in Marion M Scott, Beethoven (1934)
"He who conquers others is strong; he who conquers himself is mighty."
- Lao-Tzu
"Perfect love is rare indeed - for to be a lover will require that you continually have the subtlety of the very wise, the flexibility of the child, the sensitivity of the artist, the understanding of the philosopher, the acceptance of the saint, the tolerance of the scholar and the fortitude of the certain."
- Leo Buscaglia
