Like I said earlier, I am interested in learning Russian. So making some friends who can speak Russian would be a good start for me.

I am new to this website, but if you think I might be able to help in any way let me know. I am trying to learn Russian, so I can understand how hard it is to try to teach yourself a new language. 

What do you want to do once you get your English up to scratch? Are you learning it because you want to travel or for say future employment opportunities?
