In Bahia, the first afoxés (of African origin dance groups) have emerged in the late nineteenth century to the twentieth.

Throughout the twentieth century, the carnival was further popularized in Brazil and met a variety of embodiments, both among the ruling class as among the popular classes.

Among the popular classes came the samba schools in the 1920s.

The samba schools and the Rio carnival gone on to become an important commercial activity from the 1960s animal game Entrepreneurs and other legal business activities began to invest in cultural tradition. The City of Rio de Janeiro began to put the stands in Avenida Rio Branco and charging admission to see the parade. In São Paulo, there was also the development of the samba schools parade from that period.

In 1984, was established in Rio de Janeiro Samba Runway or Sambadrome. With an architectural design done by Oscar Niemeyer, the building has become one of the main symbols of the Brazilian carnival.

The carnival, besides being a Brazilian cultural tradition, has become a lucrative business tourism business and entertainment.

Millions of tourists are directed to the country at the time of execution of such a party, and billions of dollars are moved in the production and consumption of that cultural product.

Ludmila

As I promised, here umorigem and the evolution of Carnival in Brazil.
I'm also sending some sites so you can access and view some pictures of Carnival in my country. I hope you can access the videos. Have a good time.

Carnival in Brazil has its historical roots in the Brazilian colonial period, when we were a colony of Portugal (Sec. XVI), making it a lucrative commercial activity in the twentieth century.

One of the first was the Shrovetide carnival events, a Portuguese origin party that, in the colony, was practiced by slaves.

These came out in the streets with their faces painted, throwing flour and smell of water balls at people. The Shrovetide was considered a violent and offensive practice, because of attacks on people with the materials, but it was quite popular.

By the mid-nineteenth century, in Rio de Janeiro, the practice of Shrovetide became a crime after a campaign against popular manifestation released by the press. While the Shrovetide was repressed in the streets, the elite of the Empire created the carnival balls in clubs and theaters.

The elite of Rio de Janeiro still create societies, the first was the Congress of luminaries Carnival, now parading in the streets. While the Shrovetide was repressed, the high imperial society tried to take to the streets.

But the working classes have not given up their carnival practices. In the late nineteenth century, seeking to adapt to the attempts of police discipline, the cords and ranches were created. The first included the use of the aesthetics of the religious processions with popular manifestations, such as poultry and billy-pear, big bass drum players. The ranches were processions mainly practiced by people of rural origin.

The marches (typical carnival rhythm of Rio de Janeiro) also emerged in the nineteenth century. The samba, another Brazilian rhythm essentially only arise around the 1910s.
