I'm Helen, 32 y.o. and have been penpalling since I was about 11 years old, I still write to my very first overseas pen pal, one day I hope we can meet.

I love meeting new people, particularly​ from different cultures and places.  I work for an emergency service in dispatch and also work part time teaching english (TESOL) at a local adult college.

I'm more interested in correspondin​g by snail mail - I like email but am honestly hopeless at replying regularly - I lose track of it.  I much prefer receiving "real"​ letters and keeping the postman in a job! HA.

I am an english teacher so would be happy to help anyone who is looking for help with this language.

travelling, languages (I speak a bit of Italian - not fluently, plus a tiny bit of Japanese), crafts (beading, smocking, cross stitch, mosaics - anything really!) swimming, going to markets (handcraft markets), reading,  bike riding (I've only just bought a pushbike! Absolute beginner!), bushwalking,​ badminton, spending time with family and friends.

Love the 80s but also some of the latest stuff and music from other cultures. Live, Adam Brand, Pete Murray, The Cat Empire, Abba, The Police,  - anything really!

Top Gun (I know sad, but it was my fave!), Dirty Dancing, Shrek, Slumdog Millionaire,​ 50 First Dates, Mamma Mia, Strictly Ballroom, Bourne Identify (x3), Meet the Parents, Beyond Borders, RAN (Remote Area Nurse), Rebel, and I'm sure there's more!  I don't get alot of time to watch movies.

travel shows, Criminal Minds, The Bill, Packed to the Rafters, City Homicide, Survivor (not for the politics in the show but I love the team building challenges),​ The Amazing Race, The Closer, documentarie​s / current affairs

Mainly non-fiction true life stories - I like to know what's going on in the world!  Occasionally​ I will tackle a fiction book but always get drawn back to non-fiction.​
