About Me:

Those who have read my profile in the past know that I can write a lot and that I have often wrote more in my profile than everyone else on this site. But with the New Year I decided to do something a little different. The section is ABOUT who I am, whereas the last couple times I wrote descriptions in this box they were THINGS I did/did not like/dislike. So I decided to make this more of a "Who Am I?" section so that people will know more about me. And instead of being like, "You have a long profile, why?" To make a long story short I had a long profile in order for people to realize that no matter how much I wrote they didn't know who I was, just certain things I did. So now to tell you who I am, I will tell you the story of my life. Serious.

Blissful Beginnings: The person you know as Michael (if you read my name above) was the third child of John and Mary and was born in March of 1989. He grew up in a place called The Sundance Housing Site (which no longer exists today) where it was a small cul-de-sac type settlement in the middle of nowhere with about 36 houses, most with young families. This gave him people to hang out and play with on weekends, and weekdays after school.

The Search For Knowledge: Michael got his primary education at Seba Beach School. In the first few years he was also happy, or so he told himself, because there was always someone to go on the other side of the teeter-totter with. That's how he judged friendship: people who play with him. Well, his one true friend Lee, moved away in Grade 3 and left Michael alone for the first time in his life, though this would become a semi-regular theme throughout the rest of the years.
Michael soon found a new friend by the name of Jacob and the two of them were really close until Jacob moved. It would be years later (eight to be exact) before Jake would re-enter his life and be friends again. But this left Mike alone a second time. And by now it was Grade 6 and everyone knows at that age that popularity is how many people are your friends, so he was the LEAST popular among his classmates, and was the subject of ridicule. This left him feeling depressed and hurt. He thought of two options to deal: Tell someone how about how he feels and get through it or suicide. By the fact that he writes this the option he chose must be clear... he chose suicide. It was all planned out: how he would do it, the day was set, everything was ready to go, then he decided to listen to the radio for the LAST song he would listen to. That song happened to be Hold On - Good Charlotte.  He listened to it and cried for an hour and a half because he knew what he had planned was wrong and went to school the next day with his faux smile like he had worn for the past few years and made it look like nothing was wrong. Thus leaving him emotionally, and socially, secluded for the majority of his schooling career.

Growing Up Too Fast: Being alone taught him he could do one of two things: Mope about it for years, or move on with his life. He moved on by being emotionally secluded from the entire populace, schoolmates, teachers, family, everyone. He matured emotionally over the period of a few months and by the end there was nothing that could hurt him, on the outside at least.
After leaving Seba Beach in Grade 9 he went to secondary school at St. Thomas Aquinas, a "city school". Here he was alone again as the school was made of people from either St. Marg's primary school, or John Paul II and he was from neither. He was picked on, teased, threatened, insulted, harrased, etc. on a daily basis. But earlier training got him through it. No one bothered to get to know him, just make fun of what they thought he was.He also learned that the people there had nothing on him because he was in one fight (a two-on-one) and he beat them both up.
By grade 10 he was growing bored of his monotonous routine and decided to join the Seba Beach Volunteer Fire Department at 15. He has since seen broken limbs, dead bodies, people lose everything and he learned that people are strong when they need to be. Too bad they only need to be when something is at stake instead of all the time. He also learned hypocrisy because he is never strong.

The Later Years: Michael finished secondary school in the top 5 students in the class and promptly went onto university. He continues his ongoing education at Concordia University College of Alberta where he is working towards a double degree in "Molecular and Cellular Biology" and "Chemistry". His life follows him in exact same ways as the past because even at university he has no long term friendships.

In Summary: He does the best he can with the life he's been handed but still his parents disapprove of him, he has never had a relationship and he wonders when, if ever, his life is to be the dream he hopes it to be.

Requests:

I would request that people who are going to write to me actually read my profile before writing to me. I understand that some of you look at it and realize that it is long. Deal with it. I also understand that some people have English as their non-primary language, and it's okay. At least read what you can of my profile before writing.
I would also request that you try to use proper grammar and spelling when you write to me. I know that some of you young hipsters like writing in abbreviations such as lol, g2g, ttyl, etc. but can you please not. In the real world you must speak with proper grammar, so why not practice for when that time comes.

~If you are having trouble with either of the following I've mentioned above I will help you with a template that you can use to follow when writing to me. It has both proper grammar AND spelling. And for you simple-minded people (not that everyone is) it is "Fill in the Blanks"!

"Hi Michael,
How are you? I'm _________ and I just wanted to say a few things. I read your profile and I thought it was _________. I can relate to the part where you said, "___________" because, "________," and that's why I think we will get along great.
Hope to hear from you soon,"

Friend Requests: I request that you do not just add me to be your friend. This will end in one of two decisions: 1) I click "Decline" and never think about it again, or 2) I ignore you in hopes that since we (may have) talked that you would become an actual friend and not just a face on my page.
This is how I view friendship: Friends are the people who accept you for who you are and take the good with the bad and still think only the best of you. They are the ones who back you up when you need it and don't expect anything special in return. I value the true friendship of people over the number of "friends" I meet over the Internet. So if you want to be my friend, then be my friend. Don't just click "Add to Friends" and never say a word to me.

-Thanks
*Note*: Here are some people who are easy to talk to and great friends to make. I would like to request you visit them:

Aaron

Language Exchange Requests:

Languages are a major part in my life, mainly because they are my main form of communication. I am a quick learner and I am motivated, but I would really like if someone, or a group of someones would help me out with the learning process. I would really appreciate that and the people, or person, that helps me will definitely be a life-long friend.

Just because what you speak doesn't happen to be in my list of "languages I want to learn" doesn't mean that if you want to teach I won't listen. This may seem like an unrealistic goal I have in mind, but I would actually like to be fluent (well, mostly fluent) in at least six languages other than English by the time I am done all my schooling in university. That's six years for six languages, which means if I get into a new language every four months, thus giving me time to remember previous languages, I should be speaking them all by summer 2015, but fluent-ish in one, maybe two until after another few years of practice. I am now looking out towards others whom would like to teach me. I thank you in advance for your time.

Interests, Hobbies, etc.:

Interests: Music really interests me, so does the olympics, and gymnastics, and Tricking (Acrobatic Martial Arts). Same with sports, firefighting, going outside and foreign (to me) languages.

Hobbies: I like to doodle random things, randomly sewing things, and piano too. I'm not any good at any of my hobbies, but I am getting better... if you can help with any of those hobbies please feel free to drop a helpful hint.

Etc.: Other things I enjoy include, but are not limited to, being with friends, shopping, conversing with others and people watching.

Favorite Music:

I listen to a lot of music, and lots of different kinds of music so I have a fairly eclectic taste in music. Even if I don't like a band I will give them a listen to say that I don't like it instead of being like, "They sing this genre so I won't give them a chance"

Inspiration is the difference between potential and growth, thought and will, existence and life. It is but only during our fits of passion can we truly say to ourselves, “Yes! This is what it means to be alive!” We must live to spark fires and ignite reason to reach towards the impossible.

-I am the ME I choose to be

-Don't tell me the sky is the limit when there are footprints on the moon

-For the sake of never making waves, I kept my secrets to myself and no one ever really knew the darker shadows of my heart....

-The consequences of not doing anything are potentially more costly than trying to make a difference

-Do you ever look through your pictures and see a stranger in the background? It makes me wonder: In how many pictures am I a stranger…

-Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending

~Sorry my profile is so long, but it is who I am, not what I am

You're welcome. Haha yeah I know that it seems random. Well my mother was actually born here so it has always been a familiar country to me, since we would visit every summer.
I studied a year of marine biology and I was contacted by a turtle reservation in Monterrico and well college life had already started to settle down, and I like to think of myself as an active person, so I jumped at the chance to change the scenery. It's been great and I have found that it was a really great decision to make.
Yeah it's a good suggestion to make, you at least can take the conversation somewhere when someone gives you a decent greeting. I'm doing good, relaxing at the moment. Haha I am finding it hard to think of any new questions for you, because it seems that your profile has already answered all of them.

Hi I'm Valerie. I'm from Arizona but moved to Guatemala almost two years ago. I really enjoyed reading your profile, you seem like a very interesting person. I like to read a lot and music is an essential part of my life. I am working in marine biology at a turtle reservation in Monterrico. Sorry if I didn't fully commit to your guideline for a proper introduction on your requests. I hope you’re doing good.

Hi Michael,
How are you? I'm Melanie and I just wanted to say a few things. I read your profile and I thought it was quite interesting and insightful. I can relate to the part where you spoke about being bullied and a loner at school, because I experienced that as well, to the point where I tried to end it in my last year of school. It's good to know that you didn't let it fully get to you and that you're doing what you want with your life =)
Hope to hear from you soon!
