About Me:

I am a young professional working as an statistical analyst for a government agency who just finished gradaute school about 2 years ago. I cannot spell without the help of Microsoft Word, which is ironic considering I use to be an English/Philosophy teacher in college. I wonder what my studnts would think if they saw all these gramatical and spelling errors.

I love to travel. I am determined to visit at least one foreign country a year so I can embrace the uniqueness of their culture. I just came back from a trip to Hong Kong, one of my most favorite places in the world. I have traveled to almost every inhabitable continent except South America, but I plan to change that next year with a trip to either Chile or Argentina. When I am not traveling, I enjoy reading (just finished Freakonomiccs), listening to music (everything form Asian pop to operas to hip hop), drinking with my close friends, playing and wathcing sports, and cooking. Everyone says I am an exellecent cook, but I beg to differ. Still waiting for my first case of food poisoning.

Requests:

Anyone with an open mind and willing to listen to me ramble. I would love meeting people who appreciates the traveling (especially Asia) and the exchange of cultural knowledge. I am looking for open minded individuals who are willing to exchange the richness of their culture and experiences with me so we can understand the similarities we share and the differences that make us unique.

Interests, Hobbies, etc.:

Traveling, Reading, Sports (Playing and Watching), Bumming around my house, Culinary Arts (Cooking and Eating),

Favorite Music:

Anything and Everything ranging from hip hop to country to classical
All American Rejects, BoA, Jay Chou, John Mayer, Johnny Cash, Michelle Branch, Nelly, 50 Cent

Favorite Movies:

Maverick, Remember the Titans, Hotel Rwanda, My Sassy Girl, Infernal Affair (the American version is not as good),Band of Brothers, Shawshank Redemption, Stranger than Fiction, 40 Year Old Virgin

Favorite TV Shows:

Heroes, 24 (why do they run at the same time slot), Lost, Ice Road Truckers, Simpsons, King of the Hill, Everybody Loves Raymond, MASH, Price is Right (sometimes the classics are the best)

Favorite Books:

Freakonomics, Russell Brown's Growing Up, Anything by Dan Brown and Tom Clancy, Kant, Sartre

Favorite Quotes:

Your guilty consciences may make you vote Democratic, but secretly you all yearn for a Republican president to lower taxes, brutalize criminals, and rule you like a king!

If you don't like your job, you don't strike! You just go in every day, and do it really half assed. That's the American way!

yeah.. i'm not a huge beer lover, but i enjoy beer when i'm chillin somewhere. my friends love beer, so we're always drinking beer. but i'm a straight Bud Light, Kirin, Hite, or OB kinda person~ haha.. there i go again, being very limited to my choices in alcohol.
well, i went to Japan when i was in high school with my family.. so we went with a tour. i actually only stayed in Tokyo for 2 or 3 days. we went to many places, but i don't remember all of the names. my favorite is Kyoto though. =) and yes, i have visited the onsens when i went~
wow.. you must've had a blast trekking through Europe~ i would loooove to do that, but i would need to find the right people to do that with. haha. i think Europe definitely depends on who you go with.

hahah~ i'm not sure if i can drink you under the table though~ it's been awhile since i drank continuously~ 3 bottles of soju is pretty good! :) i only drink soju, Crown Royal, or beer. haha~ so my drink list is very limited. =/ i hate mixed drinks cause i feel like it's a waste of money and room in your stomach! hahaha~ i'd rather just shot it cause it takes less time and effort~ ;p
ah.. i've never hiked in Korea before~ i actually don't hike very much...... i attempt to do it every summer, but i don't end up doing it. lol. um.. the last time i was in Korea was March 07. =)
yes, traveling is always great~ i've only been to Japan, Korea, and Canada (in terms of foreign countries), but i would really love to go to Europe one day soon!
have you been to Europe yet?

Hi, Steve,

You sound like an interesting guy. I've got a background in English, and I've taught it as well--but hey, there's more to life than good spelling, such as traveling, which I love. Also, I much prefer my current career in counseling.

Take care,

Ellen

Currently, I'm not watching any of American tv shows.. Sometimes, I watch Ellen shows while working out at 24 fitness. Gossip Girl was my favorite until now. I've only heard of other dramas but haven't seen any of them yet. Korean cable channels used to show American famous dramas like Heroes, LOST, Dr. House, Grey's Anatomy, ER and so on. How is the story line going on? It's like you can guess the ending part how it's going to be?

Wow, Hongkong's food were your taste? That's cool because I haven't eaten almost anything in there.. I ate three times Korean foods there. I'm not accustomed to eating foods which has a strong flavor, making me hard to try it. What foods were your favorite? What about other countries's foods did you ever eat? American is a diverse country to have a lot of restaurants, dealing with other nation's traditional foods and I guess you've also tried a few of them in here. Japan is used to picked one of countries that most of western people prefer to go. You might feel quite differences between Hongkong and Japan, though it's the same Asian countries.
