About Me:
Hello,
I'm looking for traditional Snail-mail penpals for both letter writing and/or postcard writing.
My current residence is actually Bolton Landing, N.Y. (but it wasn't an option), I live as a caretaker on a private island on Lake George. I've been living here year round for over 4 years, prior to that I've lived all over the United States from the mountains to cities, oceans and deserts, also lived a year in Amsterdam, Netherlands--wonderful city, would go back in a heartbeat.
When not working I keep busy taking photos (mostly landscape and experimental), posting to my blog, and making my way through the winters with no running water.
Typical suburban upbringing, went to college for Secondary Education with a concentration in English (i.e. High School English teacher, I don't presently teach), pretty well traveled as far as the States goes, worked all sorts of different types of jobs.
Yes the description is a little short on details, I'll add more soon.
Regards,
Jeff

Requests:
My requests are for snail-mail penpals only, for letter writing and/or postcard writing.
I am NOT looking for romance (when I want that I go to the mainland where I live--face to face conversation for that sort of thing is usually the best way to go), nor am I interested in making donations to your "cause", just snail-mail penpals please.
I only speak English and willing to help you with yours but please don't ask to e-mail me your writing for school or work for corrections (I haven't the time and it usually doesn't help--American English is used pretty much only in the U.S., most good English teachers in the world pick up on this, thus they know there was some outside help).
As for letter writing, I prefer lengthy letters of substance, although not every letter must be lengthy, we all get busy at times. As far as substance it is probably easier to describe what is isn't: list of television shows you watch, list of daily chores, list of your usual meals (however, I do like to cook so the topic of food is not totally off limits but where you get your favorite fast food from and how often is of no interest to me, sorry), pages long descriptions of how cute your pet is and all the "cute" things it does, yeah, that doesn't interest me either. After writing these negatives I really should probably state some positives, so here goes: politics, religion (however no proselytizing I am quite comfortable with my faith and I hope you are comfortable enough with yours to not need others to join you), science, poetry, books, stories from your past, snippets of your present, and hopes for your future, interesting descriptions of your world, basically anything other than the mundane.
Not necessarily looking for "normal" (not sure what that is), but not looking for total freak-show crazy either (a past penpal relationship ended when they took to mailing me unlined paper with nothing but curse words scrawled in crayon).
Lastly, for now, you must be willing to accept letters written on a manual typewriter, I would love to be able to write to people in long-hand but no one can read my handwriting (thus my "InterPals" name: PoorPenmanship, it's a joke, not very funny, I know).

Interests, Hobbies, etc.:
Photography, blogging, writing, reading, painting, cooking, playing guitar, writing music, anything in the outdoors (hiking, camping, x-c skiing, snowshoeing, ice-skating, swimming, bicycling, etc.), anything in the indoors too...
Keeping up with world events via shortwave radio, I haven't a television and don't get to the mainland much for the papers.

Favorite Music:
Pretty much everything except new country and rap, well, some rap, but definitely not new country--too pop sounding for me.
Brief list for now: Led Zepplin to the Police to Type-O-Negative to Classical.

Unfortunately I haven't had the time to read any books lately, but I'll put together a list soon.

may I ask what faith you belong? It is amazing how much religions have in common than rather what they do not have in common.... I am catholic...I really enjoy the mystics...such as st john of the cross, st therese of lisieux and st teresa of avila (spain)...different peple, different times, different experiences... and the message is the same...just my observation for myself...as well as the Koran and the Torah...tak care and enjoy...you seem to have a bless'd life...Mike
