About Me:

Sunday, July 6, 2008

My dearest community of Interpals,

While I have surely met numerous wonderful people on this website, and I'm sure there are even more to meet, I find that I can no longer continue hanging around here.

While the prospect of world travel and meeting people of all cultures is truly inspiring, I find that in my own experience it's become more of a game of social politics and moreover, a consummation of my life.

I wake up each day and amongst other things I do (which I am fixing similar to this), I sit hear and check my Interpals.  Two
weeks ago there was not a day I spent at home, and life was great as always.  I find myself now, sitting here, still jobless after a month talking to a bunch of people I don't know and moreover I may not ever meet them.

"If your cups already full, it's bound to overflow"

I think this is largely my problem, as many of you, know, I love AWESOME things, and I mean, I could do more awesome things, but if I try to do many things at once, my cup is bound to overflow.  Thus I need to prioritize the things I let into my cup.  As great as the internet is, it is unfortunately the weakest outlet of social interaction.  If I did in real life what I've been doing on the internet, I'd be meeting lots of interesting people in real life; making friends, connecting, actually seeing them face to face.

You know?  It's a lot more real.

I encourage you to go out to do the same.  Go somewhere you haven't gone and talk to someone you don't know.  If you got the money (unlike me), go to some foreign country and meet someone.  Meet everyone!

I know I'm going to do my best to do that and I want everyone I've met to strive for awesome things too.

Most of all, I think this is important to understand:

"The human race will begin solving it's problems on the day that it ceases taking itself so seriously."
– Malaclypse the Younger, Principia Discordia

Peace and Love,
Ryan
