About Me:

Hi, I'm David. At the moment when I update this, I'm 24 years old. I'm born and raised in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Yes, that little country in the wild wild west of Europe, of the (wind)mills, wooden shoes and the 'legal' weed and prostitution. Heck, I live in hell on Earth... ;)

As my nickname and the previous paragraph already predicts, I'm pretty sarcastic in pretty everything that I say or do. Even though I can be best described as an optimistic realist, which can be serious as well from time to time. And I guess it's best to be serious now for a minute or so to talk a bit about my intentions.

I'm just looking for some cool keyboard pals (snail mail isn't quite my thing, I'm a bit too impatent for that, so I won't use a pen in my correspondance a lot), preferably from around my age (let's say from 18 till 30), regardless where you are from. Guess you can talk just as well with someone from Finland, Brazil or Australia, to name just some examples.

I'm not specificly looking for a relationship, just friendship, but who knows what friendship can lead to. :) So if you are just open-minded, humorous, honest, not afraid to just be yourself and you got quite a strong opinion, just to name some character points, then we might be on the start of what hopefully will become a long friendship at the least.

Requests:

If I'm the 27.634.233rd person that visits your page and because of that, I'm the winner of 10 million US Dollars, please convert that figure into Euros and deliver it to my home address in 50 Euro bills. And oh yeah, up the shut frig to the tax office. ;)

And oh yeah, becoming friends is 1 thing, but you actually have to do something more to earn that privilege than to just send a friend request without us having spoken a word to each other at all. I'll decline most of these kind of friend requests anyway.

Language Exchange Requests:

I speak a very little bit of Swedish, which I would love to improve. I also still have some ambitions of learning Finnish one day, but that language is só hard, especially for somebody that sucks in grammar anyway.

Tack för läsa / Kiitos.

Interests, Hobbies, etc.:

Photography is my biggest hobby, but I'm also interested in soccer, tennis, basketball, american football and ice hockey. Other hobbies are gaming (PS3), listening some music, reading, going out to preferably bars and (Irish) pubs, computering, debating and writing.

Favorite Music:

Rock music. Don't really have a preference for 1 kind of rock music, only the harder, less melodious kinds of metal aren't quite my thing.

Favorite Movies:

Comedies, thrillers, action movies.

Favorite TV Shows:

Dit Was Het Nieuws, South Park, Myhtbusters, Brainiac, Top Gear, plenty more that I cannot think of at this moment.

Favorite Books:

I read mainly detectives & thrillers. Some of my favourite writers are Jonathan Kellerman, James Patterson, Arnaldur Indridason, Joseph Finder and Dennis Lehane.

Favorite Quotes:

* Why do cartoon characters usually got only 4 fingers on each hand?
* Why do buses, trams, trains and metros don't have seat belts?
* Poets lie the truth.
* What happens if a guy asks for a cocktail in a gay bar?
* What's the deal with the alphanumerical codes as names for cellphones?

Poor, poor Tottenham... I sure miss Jol. And Barbatove. And Defoe. And Malbranque. And scoring. And points. But not Robinson, to hell with him.

I think somewhere in Scotland... maybe Edinburough...

Supporting Man U (¬_¬), Liverpool and Arsenal is cool. It must be fun switching games when it gets boring. I can't stand watching Spurs (but I do anyway)... it's so baaaad.... ;_;

I have no friends. Everyone thinks I'm 14 when I'm 21. Getting treated like you're 14 by outsiders all the time kinda grates after a while... I have an awesome family that I wouldn't swap for anything or anyone.

Why Dutch..? Why not? I have an obsession with learning new things. I kinda want to go back to London but it was really bad where I lived... so I'm a little mixed. On one hand, closer to my favourite football grounds and my Dad lives in London; on the other hand, it was hard to breath and I have a lot of bad memories. I really want to live in a big city, active and stuff.
I stay at home, me and my family are in the middle of writing books.

Alright after an appalling night's sleep I have the answers... Buses, metros etc do not have seatbelts due to governments trying to keep costs low for commuters, because if they had seatbelts, not only would fitting them to the pre existing trains etc increase costs but having to continually maintain them due to damages and vandalisim would increase public transportation costs. Also because you can stand on trains etc when there is no seating, it's really a waste of time to put them in. (I asked the man working at the train that this morning when I was buying my ticket. I think he though I was being a smart arse!)
The reason why cartoons only have four fingers is because cartoonist found that when drawing five fingers it made the hands look too skinny and ill proportioned to the rest of the figure, this has been happening since the early 20th century, George Herriman is apparently a good example of this. Also again it's about costs and it's easier and quicker to draw four fingers. (What can I say, we live in a money hungry world!)
And the last one, what happens if a man asks for a cocktail in a gay bar? I would only have to assume that if he had the money to pay for it, he would then drink it?

Thanks much. I am insane.

Arsenal have a spell they put on you, I like watching. I balance out this evil by laughing when West Ham and Club Millionarios (Chelsea) lose.

Ugh, moved from London to horrible suburbs with only bratty kids, hoodies or 60 year-olds. Everyone seems to fit a stereotype to the letter. You can tell just by the way they look.

Kinder regards,
Gemma

Why do buses, trams and metros not have seatbelts? And what does happen to a guy who asks for a cocktail in a gay bar??? All these questions that you've left unanswered.... If I don't sleep tonight because I am pondering these, it's your fault...
