About Me:
Greetings and salutations. I am a 37-year old father of two boys (8 and 7). I am married to a wonderful woman with whom I will celebrate 14 years of marriage very soon. I am an English Teacher; I teach American high school students to think for themselves, be critical of what they hear and read, and to question their authorities.
Requests:
I am interested only in platonic relationships, so please do not contact me if you are interested in something more than friendship. But I am always interested in speaking with people whose views differ from my own.
Interests, Hobbies, etc.:
I am a political junkie who loves reading, writing, and informing myself; I am a liberal thinker and an ardent beliver that Global Warming is a man-made problem that MUST be solved.
Favorite Music:
My taste in music is quite eclectic, but I am a product of the 80s. I am stuck in that warp were Morrissey, The Smiths, The Cure, R.E.M., U2, Echo and the Bunnymen, The Replacements, etc. rule. But, as I said, my musical preferences do not stop there. Being trained in classical voice, I love opera and classical music (Smetna's _Ma Vlast_ and Bach's _Air_ are my favorite pieces), My favorite band rocking today is Coldplay! I also enjoy Oasis, The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, Bob Dylan, Alanis Morissette, Pink, Kanye West, Amy Winehouse, Duffy, The Greycoats... I am not a huge fan of Hip-Hop, Rap, or Country (but I am always willing to give them a listen)
Favorite Movies:
"Citizen Kane", "The Princess Bride", "Se7en", "The Usual Suspects", "Fargo"... I enjoyJoel and Etahn Coen's films, M. Night Shamylan's films, EVERYTHING from Pixar Studios, I think Focus Features put out some great films, and (like most Americans) I am a sucker for Disney films!
Favorite TV Shows:
I don't watch much television, but I watch "C.S.I.: Crime Scene Investigators," "Criminal Minds," "Fringe," "X-Files" reruns, "Torchwood," and/or "The Graham Norton Show" when I DO watch.
Favorite Books:
Hamlet is at the top of my list (I reread it at least once a year). I enjoy biographies and essays. I also prefer international literature: Marcel Proust's "Rememberance of Things Past" , Yukio Mishima's "Sea of Fertility". "The Catcher in the Rye", "Slaughterhouse-Five" and "Gravity's Rainbow" are other favorites.
