About Me:

So I woke up one morning and realized I had two options to use towards my current friendless life situation. I could either A) Sit idly by and complain to my diary or B) I could physically make some changes in my life to help friendship develop. Lucky for me on that particular morning, I chose B!

Why am I apparently friendless, you might ask. A very good question indeed. I'm assuming it has more to do with my current residence than my personality (no matter how shy that naturally is). You see I moved the 16 hours to Virginia from my home state of New Hampshire in December 2006. I moved for the boyish looking Navy man who eventually in April became my fiance, but in moving I left all friends, family and familiar acquaintances behind.  Finding myself in a region of 1 and 1/2 million people and not knowing a single one of them has proven extremely difficult for me to bare and turning to chocolate for solace has only served to make my butt grow.

It is with vain hope that I turn now to you, the readers of this pathetic post, in hopes that you'll find some trivial sense of pity lodged somewhere in your tear ducts for my sad plot. I hope it inspires you to give a warm though somewhat skeptical "hello?" And from there, a friendship :)

Requests:

I'd like to meet people who just want to be friends. I like down to earth people who have great senses of humor and who like to laugh.

If you're married and looking or just plain looking, then you probably want to skip me.  Oh, and apparently the thing to say on this site is don't ask me for money. So, don't ask me for money, a passport, or just to explain the diplomatic reasoning behind our involvement in Iraq. (Trust me, I don't know!!)

Language Exchange Requests:

I took two years of French back in High School, over 10 years ago; I\\\'d like to improve my conversational skills. I love languages and am willing to learn any. I hear Japanese is very similar (grammatically and sentence structure wise) to English, so yeah, I wouldn't mind learning that or another character based language too. The alphabet is so boring haha.

Interests, Hobbies, etc.:

Anglophile!!!! (And yes, that's a word!)  reading, writing, traveling, hiking, learning new things, being a geek, making people laugh

I recently learned that hand feeding giraffes kicks *** and that living in harmony with the ants invading your kitchen is not entirely impossible (albeit undesireable).

Favorite Music:

Celtic; Heidi Talbot, John Doyle, Eileen Ivers, The Chieftains, Silly Wizards, Great Big Sea and Natalie MacMaster  and anybody who actually has more to say than "wait til you see my dick" or whatnot.

Favorite Movies:

Have simple plots in which say, the arrival of someone new in a person's life, sparks a change.  Not actually into massive explosions, copious amounts of nudity or dumb humor. My recent favorites include "Once", "Little Miss Sunshine", " And When Did You Last See Your Father" and "Pride & Prejudice" BBC version with Colin Firth; Six Hours of bliss :)

Favorite TV Shows:

"The Office" (American Version), "Bizarre Foods", "Three Sheets" and anything on History, National Geographic or Discovery Channel. I've been known to tune into American Idol too though I find it superficially disgusting.  Generally reality tv and watching music videos bore me.

Favorite Books:

Hard to say, but I do love reading non fiction based in the Tudor era of British History. The sex lives of kings and queens is always interesting :P haha. I tend to read more than one book at a time, though they're all usually non fiction. I occasionally get on Holocaust reading kicks and will read first hand accounts of the World Wars. Currently I'm reading Somerset's Bio of "Queen Elizabeth I", and two novels "A Suitable Boy" and for fun a much, much shorter novel called "The Starter Wife". Typically if a movie or mini series has been made out of a book I prefer to read the book first. I do like the poetry anthology "Love Is a Dog From Hell" and would recommend it to those who don't even like poetry.

Favorite Quotes:

"That's Your Couch!"--my fiance
"The ones that can know you so well, are the ones that can swallow you whole"--Dar Williams
"Is my mouth moving?" -college friend, a wee bit on the tipsy side
"Stop using your education on me!" (my fiance)
"Meow"-Luna
