Samurai practiced their sword art with wood sword. But sometimes injured and died accidentally. End of EDO era, Bamboo sowrds and protector was developed and kendo drastically spread to townsman, not only samurai as safty sport. In EDO era, There were no more war. So, some of master of kendo had to get more student including townsman to earn a living adopting bamboo sowrd and protector. Samurai spirit was lost as this.

Yap,not many. And There are many fake ones insisting their traditon.

I know Eiji Yoshikawa, but haven't read it. I don't like fiction. I like real story. Coz Some samurai's life was beyond fiction novel.

Oh you. Mean before kendo was using real sword before?? I didn't know, I thought it was just a sport using wood sword .

So there are not many school still teaching the spirit of Bushido? That's too bad, I thought Kendo used this spirit too..

Did you read the book musashi by Eiji Yoshikawa ?? I know it's fiction, but it was awesome to read I think!

Kendo is using sord. But As I mentioned, Kendo has become already sports. You can get a point by hitting only top of head and body and list. It is a purpose to spred Kendo by changing the rule simple. You know, Real sord can kill people hitting anypalce of body.
So,Its apart from Bushido.
The Kenjyutu you call as bokken is the same one Samurai practice at EDO era. Several school still remain keeping the same style from Edo era. Only They have the spirit of Bushido.

I see.
Yes but I've read that Kendo one of the closest thing of Bushido. You stopped practicing Kendo?

I didn't know about it. The duel with the bokken are quite impressive even if it's just wood!
And I like the part with the real sword ! So cool, and the movements are so neat and precise, this is impressive!
Do you try to do that with a bokken?

Yap, Mucho is not popular in Japan at this era
I used to do kendo. But the kendo is not real fighting, just sport taking a point from enemy.
The below is traditional sords art lasts from 400 year ago. That is real.

Good looking in hagakure does not mean handsome. Tidy up yourself not to make yourself ridiculous. I've seen both movie. I also love Nana samurai. I want to be a guy like Mifune.
Do you like japanese sord arts?

I agree!! Haha
But you know in the hagakure they say samurai must be always good looking and take care of their look because they should be ready to die at any moment !
Did you watch bushi no ichibun? Or Nana samurai? I loved these :)
