About Me:

I SUDDENLY LOST INTERNET ACCESS, AND DON'T KNOW WHEN I'LL GET IT BACK. I'M SORRY, BUT I WILL GET BACK TO YOU ALL AS SOON AS I CAN (FOR THOSE AWAITING THEM, LETTERS WILL BE POSTED THIS WEEK).  I'M ALREADY MISSING YOU ALL, GEEZE!

(NOTE:  A lot of this here - my work, for example - is now false.  I'll rectify this once I've caught up with everyone here again after my brief hiatus.)

G'day g'day.  I'm a 25 year old Aussie who is struggling with teaching himself German, which I've been doing for a year or so now.

My younger brother (Tobye, who is learning German with me) recommended I sign-up here, so here I am.

Personality-wise, I guess you could say I'm pretty bloody shy, generally laid back (often to a fault), and have a hard time hating anyone.  I'm clumsy-as, have a bad memory, and tend to repeat myself a bit.  I'm clumsy-as, have a bad memory, and tend to repeat myself a bit.
I guess you could call me left-wing too.  Love animals, though hate hardcore animal liberationists.  The same goes for hardcore greenies.
I've always been interested in sociology, philosophy and the like, and am working on going to study one of them as soon as I can.  I'm greatly disenchanted by organised religion and government.  Organised religion quickly loses its meaning, and most government is under governed, or over governed by itself.

I work for a party hire company down here which I rather enjoy because, while the work can be hard, the crew is great and I get to see a lot of different places.  And they pay me money.  Beauty!

When not at work I like to listen to music, create electronic music, write, train in Wing Chun, play the Xbox 360 (my Gamertag is Tangaz too), work on improving the family property, work on a skit comedy show with my brother and some mates, watch movies and anime, write lyrics that will probably never be heard, try to learn German, mess around online, go out to see some live hip-hop, and generally stroll around enjoying the sights of wherever I am.

My father's side is from Ireland, my mother's from Yugoslavia, and I am planning on seeing them both as soon as I can.  But I am also enthralled by Asia, Africa, and anywhere else, so I aim to one day have been everywhere...

Thanks for reading this, and don't be afraid to say hello!

Requests:

I'm just looking to meet some decent, genuine people from around the world.  Who knows, maybe we'll meet some day...  I'm not here to collect a huge 'friends' list, rather to make some long-lasting friendships.  People who can help me with German predominantly, but anyone's welcome.  Also, anyone wanting to help me with my German via Skype would be more than appreciated.  And please, ask before you add me to your MSN contacts.  If you don't, I will most likely decline.

Language Exchange Requests:

English is my first language. I'm no scholar in English, but I'm sure I could help.  I'm now teaching myself German, and would really appreciate some help!  So anyone who wants to work on their spoken English while I work on my spoken German and has Skype...  I'd also love to learn Japanese and Ukrainian.

Interests, Hobbies, etc.:

Music production, Writing, Wing Chun kung-fu, Reading, Travel, Gaming, Film, Swimming, Real estate, Live and recorded music, Eating out, Language, Foreign culture...

Favorite Music:

Lots!  I grew up loving hip-hop, and that has only grown.  However, I just like music in general.  From folk to industrial, classical to techno, gospel to metal, I don't know until I hear it.

Favorite Movies:

I like movies that evoke some kind of emotion in me generally, and/or movies that challenge the viewer.  Or both (i.e., The Host).  Stuff with substance.  The characters have to be real, in however unreal their circumstances.  And to contrast, I also love a good stupid comedy, squirm-inducing horror, and have loved kung-fu movies forever.

Favorite Books:

I must admit I ashamedly don't read as much as I'd like to.  But I do enjoy a range of genres.  I'm not too much into crime or true crime books though, or fantasy that takes itself too seriously (no, I didn't like The Lord Of The Rings!).  I love something that is smart and funny, hence the amount of Terry Pratchett books here.
