About Me:

Hi! there. I'm from Korea. I came Philadelphia on August 2008. I am attending a graduate school here to earn a Master degree. I majored comtemporary art focucing on photography in Korea. Before coming here, I worked as a curator in one of the contemporary art galleries in Seoul / did various artworks / instructed high school students and adults who want to major photography. I'm going back to Korea Jan 2010. My hometown is Busan, but I usually stay in Seoul. I hope I can make some good friends here or in Korea. My msn & email is sunghokang@hotmail. com / Yahoo &  Skype ID is pharty99  Thanks.

Language Exchange Requests:

I'm a native speaker of Korean. I have some experience teaching Korean language to Americans at International house at Philly during summer, 2009. (http://www .ihousephilly.org/programs-foreign-language-program.htm)  Some of my students seemed to like my teaching.^^;;;; This is part of the email I received from one student:

".......I also wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed your last class and that I greatly appreciate the structure you provided with having us learn new words, giving us time to practice writing them, and then working through clear exercises that used that vocabulary. It was a great lesson and I will happily let B*****  know that I think you did a terrific job!............."

^^;;; But, actually my English is still very poor & broken .. particularly in listening & speaking..).. So, my point is I can be a good Korean teacher for youㅋㅋㅋ & I know how much difficult learning Korean language is for foreigners (Particulary, Westerners), because of different pronunciation, word order, and culture. But, at first, I didn't know how to teach them, because I have not undergone the process of learning Korean as a target language. I just have implicit Korean knowledge that I have naturally acquired since birth. So, it took a lot of time to prepare the the Korean class to teach better (there are bunch of completed rules to memorize in learning Korean!!!)
I hope you also know how much difficult learning English is for Korean learners..ㅋㅋㅋ ^^  Thanks for your reading.

So that was a setback. But I kept my mantra in mind: The brick walls are there for a reason. They're not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something.

Do you think being in Philadelphia helps a lot? Do the people there speak English which is easy to understand? I think in some places in the United States they have a very different English. Not like the English we are learning in school ;-)
I also enjoy watching Family Guy in English. First I am shocked because the voices are so different than in the German version. But I heard that in the English version, one man does all the voices for the father, the dog and the baby! He is also the guy who invented family guy.
Oh, the dog got a new voice in German. I heard his new voice yesterday. It's awful ;-)

Your list of language-learning is very long! I am impressed :-D Learning all these languages should be fun, but I think my brain would explode...
