About Me:

NEWS!  I've got plenty of penpals right now, so I'm not accepting any more!  At least not until I can be sure that I can comfortably handle what I've got! :)  Though if you feel we absolutely MUST BE PENPALS RIGHT NOW (lol) then feel free to message me. ;)  We'll see. Hahaha.

ATTENTION FOLKS!  I'm kinda getting tired of getting messages from people who don't even try to read my profile...I know it's long, but if you can't even read this, why am I to believe that you'll bother reading any letters I send to you?

If you message me and it's clear you haven't even read my profile, I will just not reply to you.  I don't want to be mean, but I find it really disrespectful.

At the very least, just read the "About Me", "Interests/Hobbies" and my "Requests".  Those are the most important!

Oh, and people?  Stop adding me as a "friend" when you haven't even introduced yourself to me and spoken to me.  I take friendship very seriously!  You're not my friend because you managed to find my page. XP  You become friends with me through TALKING to me!

Let me also add, that I'm getting tired of people messaging me and then dropping off the face of the planet when I reply to them.  If you're not really interested in getting to know me, please don't waste my time. XP

-Thanks! <3

First, I'm sorry if all this is really long and bores you!  I just find that saying a lot about myself will help people understand me more, what I'm about, what I like/dislike and help you to better grasp this weird little thing that is I. :)  True, you learn things in letters, but best to know you might like me now, than realize you hate me later! ^_~

Also, I'm really really horrible at first contact!  I'm not really shy, just always a bit unsure of what to say, or if I'll come off a wee bit too nutty.  If I've bookmarked you, I'm really just interested in getting to know you, but am working up my courage and what to say!

I'm really a pretty big geek, and I'm really just a big kid, although a mature kid. :)  I live on my own, though haven't been able to work for some time (gosh, I think it's going on 4 years! D: ) because of a few health problems.  It sucks.  Really.  You'd think doing whatever you wanted and sleeping in all the time would be fun, but not when you do it EVERY SINGLE DAY.  After awhile, the fun stuff isn't so gosh darn fun anymore!  Which is why I've wanted to get back into penpalling.  It's always new and exciting and is a ton more creative than watching tv all day (I love my various shows, but not for 14 hours a day!)....there is something special about writing a letter for someone and having someone write a letter back, just for you! <3

I believe strongly in being kind and patient, and not attacking people for their differences or judging them on appearance or on stereotypes.  I'm straight, but support gay rights.  I enjoy reading about different religions and spirituality's, but am pretty much Atheist myself.  I'm a total feminist, but don't go around hating every guy I see.  I enjoy reading about things many people would run away from (did you know the Swastika wasn't an evil symbol until Hitler got ahold of it?  If you do, you're awesome!), and forming my own opinion instead of just believing what I've been told or taught.  I believe nothing unless I've experienced it myself.  I take no ones word for fact without serious thought of my own.

As I said above, I have some health woes.  I have moderate Scolliosis (a twist in my spine), Patella Femoral Syndrome in my knees (darn knee cap won't stay put!) and Fibromyalgia (a chronic pain disorder with lots of lovely "friends" it comes with!).  This makes me sound really unhealthy but aside from this physical things that I have no control over, everything else is in working order. lol  Nothing I do or eat has any affect on any of these things.  Nothing I did made them happen.  They just did, and I need to live with it. :)  It's hard I admit, they've definitely slowed me down a lot, but it's the compromise I have to make. ;)

I like playing on WAJAS!  Do you? ;)

I'm also an "Indigo Child" if you know what that is. ;3  And not the Christian kind, so don't bother asking.  The ORIGINAL Indigo Children first talked about by Nancy Ann Tappe!  The ORIGINAL Indigo Children with the violet-indigo aura's.  Not the bastardized blue-aura ones a certain religion came up with a few years later.  Yeah, a bit bitter over here.  Sorry.  But I find that bastardization and twisting of facts to suit a religions needs and desires very very insulting.

Requests:

I'm only interested in SNAIL MAIL penpalling and friendship! :)  I'm definitely not interested in "Email Penpals", as I'm searching for ways to lessen my time on the computer. ;)

If you message me, you write the first letter.  But if I message you, the first letter is my responsibility.  I think that's pretty fair. lol

Be within a reasonable distance of my age.  Seriously.  I'm getting a little creeped out by the people in their 40's and 50's sending me messages.  I don't mind younger than me, as I have a lot of "young" interests.  But I don't see what a 50 year old man is going to have in common with me. -__-;  It's weird.  16-35 is plenty sensible.

Be Patient.  Like I said, sometimes my health affects my speed in getting back to you.  I usually range between 2 weeks and a month for replies.  I'm on disability, I don't get a lot of money and when I do get money, I only get paid ONCE A MONTH.  So all of my mailing usually happens the very end of each month.  Being okay with this is very important!!!  I also don't mind if you take your time replying either.  The important thing is that we both have fun, no stressing over replies for either of us!  Okay?  Okay! XD

DO NOT ASK TO BE MY PENPAL JUST BECAUSE I'M FROM CANADA!  If all you care about is my country, and not who I am as a person, than that's just kinda rude, isn't it?  I don't care where you are from, I just want to make good, long-lasting friendships.  Sure, I'd be glad to learn about your town and where you are from, but what I'm most interested in is YOU and who YOU are.  I'm a little hurt that I'm getting people who message me only wanting to be my friend because I'm Canadian, and they don't really care about who I am as a person.  Canada doesn't represent who I am.  I'm an individual! :(

I really don't care if you're male or female, just don't expect any weird romantic relationships or stuff like that. lol  Sorry folks!  This one's asexual.  You wouldn't get some no matter how hard you try! ;)

NO asking me for MSN or anything like that!  I don't have any chat programs!!!  If you message me asking to chat, I'll block you because you obviously didn't even bother reading my profile! XP

No messaging with 1-liners.  Seriously.  If you are interesting in messaging me, put some EFFORT into it!  Tell me about yourself!  Why did you want to message me?  If you can only write 4 or 5 words in a message, what is there to make me believe you'll write me a nice long letter? XP

Of course, having lots in common with each other would be great!  Kinda hard to write to someone when you like completely different things. XD  Some differences are great to have!  But having absolutely nothing at all in common isn't any fun either. :(  Please don't message me if we have completely nothing in common at all!  If I read your profile and we have nothing in common, I won't reply to you. :P

As long as you can speak English okay (you don't need to be perfect, but I've got to at least be able to understand you! lol) and will try to write a good sized letter ( a couple of pages would be most appreciated, as I write long letters myself!) than I'll be a happy little Canadian. :3

Being from anywhere OTHER than the U.S or Canada would be nice, as I have a handful of people from both countries (plus I *am* Canadian. lol), and would really love to learn about different cultures and places!  When I was younger I was really into penpalling and had penpals from all over the world.  I really miss those times, they were quite nice.  But I lost contact with all of them because of a really rough period in my life that involved lots of moving and learning to take care of myself at a young age.  My life is MUCH more stable now (well, most of the time, sometimes my health slows me down in replying :( ), so I'd really like to reconnect with my old penpal-loving self. :)

Please though, if you'd like to talk to me, don't let the fact that you're from the U.S or Canada stop you!  I'd hate to pass up a good friendship opportunity just because of where you're from. :D

Interests, Hobbies, etc.:

Oh gosh!  So many things!

ART: I love drawing/writing.  I tend to have a more anime style in my drawing but don't stick to just people.  I'll draw animals too!  Real or fantasy.  I love "dark" themes a lot.  I tend to not be very fashionable myself but I love drawing fashion/clothing on my characters!  Punk is my favorite. :3

WEAPONS:  I have a small collection of daggers and swords hanging on my walls, and would love to add to them again one day (expensive hobby!).  It's what I love about weapons.  Not the killing aspect of them, but the raw, hard-earned skill involved! :D  Katana's will always be my weaponary love though. <3

VIDEO GAMES:  I'm a bit of a girl gamer. <3  My favorite thing right now is my Nintendo DS which I just got this January (2008).  My favorite game at the moment is "Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness"!  But I really do like the Pokemon games.  I'm a huge Charizard/Lugia/Dark!Lugia/Lucario fan, but Raichu owns my soul. <3  I also tend to like fighter-style games, like Smash Brothers.  I hate most computer games though.  I think I'm the only person who has never ONCE played World of Warcraft! o_O  I just don't really like it. lol

ANIME / MANGA:  I like anime, but not as much as I used to.  I love it as an art-style though!  I do love Bleach, Naruto, Hellsing Ultimate, Pokemon, Death Note, Digimon, Fullmoon wo Sagashite, Fushigi Yuugi, Sailor Moon, Chobits....well, really I love a lot of anime. lol  Even though my interest has fallen a bit, I have very fond memories of the anime I've watched. <3

COLLECTING:  I love collecting artwork and crafts (I'm decorating my apartment with hand-made things!), plushies, anime figures and/or art books!  Sanrio things like Hello Kitty, Tare Panda and Cinnamoroll!  I'm really into "punk fashion" but my wardrobe is sad at the moment. lol  Gloomy Bear, Skelanimals, Spongebob Squarepants, Grumpy Bear, Work of Heart (another CareBear), Eeyore and Grimmjow (from Bleach) are HUGE collectable favorites of mine. <3  I love collecting My Little Ponies too!  Anything with stars or skulls and crossbones!  Anything black and purle or silver.  Coins from different places!  I also am addicted to Voodoo Dolls (( http://www.vdbaby.com/ )).  I also love collecting gemstones/rocks.  Like Flourite, Hematite, Sugolite, Indigo Tanzanite and Onyx. <3  Religious Symbols!  I have a Buddist Swastika, a Pagan/Wiccan Pentacle, a Satanist Sigil of Baphomet, an Egyptian Shen (a symbol of protection....guess why I like it! XD), and an Anarchists "A".  I hope to collect others!

READING!:  I love reading about different religions and all the different symbols, but am NOT religious myself!  Well, I'll say I'm Satanist if someone really wants to get an answer out of me. lol  But I'm not really a fully-practicing Satanist, so to avoid insulting the belief I do so love, I don't classify myself as a REAL Satanist.  Of course, if you ARE religious, that won't stop me from wanting to talk to you, we'll just not talk about religion! ;)  I really love researching and reading about different mythologies and folklores!  The old "scary stories". lol  Monsters and Demons and Creatures that Go "Bump" in the Night! <3 <3 <3  I like spooky things. lol  I don't scare easily and I really enjoy the concept of "fear".

FAVORITE ANIMALS:  I love canines (any kind of dog really, but I love wolves!), horses (especially Gypsy Vaners!), and ravens!  I like fantasy animals too.  Like Kitsune, Black Dogs, Dragons, Gryphons, etc. :3

CULTURES:  I love cultures!  My favorites are definitely Japanese and Chinese.  I love the clothing, the mythology, the architecture, decorations, everything!  Well, I'm a super picky eater, so maybe not so much the food. XD  I love Pocky though!  I also love Germany, Britain, Ireland, Iceland, Hawaii, Africa, Australia....all places are really interesting to me!  I even got a Chinese seal-stamp with my name (ShenTao) on it. ^______^  It's one of my most prized posessions! <3 <3 <3

SWAPING:  I love swaping goodies with penpals!  Doesn't have to be anything expensive or amazing, just little things!  I can't always afford to include something (I really don't make a lot of money....penpals are a way for me to have fun without spending a ton of money), but I try as much as I can!  Even if it's just something simple like stickers. ^_^

Favorite Music:

Way, way too many. lol

But my favorite singer is CASCADA!!!! <3  I love Cascada!

I listen to a bit of everything.  I have music that's English, French, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese....languages I'm not too sure of. ;)  It's more the feel of the music that attracts me to it.  Though I like good lyrics too, as well as a good beat. :)

I have some NickelBack, Tatu, Linkin Park, Phil Collins, Panic! at the Disco, various anime songs, but my FAVORITE artist is without a doubt Cascada!  I also like an "amateur" artist by the name of Helene Trevillion. She posts her songs on SheezyArt.  She's got the most enchanting, lovely voice!

Favorite Movies:

There really aren't many movies I dislike.  I'll give anything a go!

Though I especially enjoyed the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, Transformers, The Reaping, the Saw movies (I'm not a fan of gore, I appreciate John Kramers life-view, even though I don't agree with his methods), The Golden Compass, The Water Horse, Enchanted, most Zombie movies, Hot Fuzz, Unbreakable, the Happening, the Mist, IronMan, Wall-E, The Truman Show, The Dark Knight....like everything else, I have a mixture of "childish" likes, and more adult likes. lol

I've really got too many favorite movies to list!

Though I must admit that I hated Clerks and Clerks2.  I like comedies, but comedies with no real substance drive me nuts!

Favorite TV Shows:

I've always got the tv on in the background, since I live by myself and don't really have any family (and no friends in my city), I enjoy listening to the voices on the tv.  Lame, but it keeps me sane!

But I do enjoy - Authur, Clifford: The Big Red Dog, House, Supernatural, Bones, Criminal Minds, Spongebob Squarepants, Fairly Odd Parents, Mythbusters, Dirty Jobs, Nancy Grace, Jon & Kate Plus Eight, Cops, America's Most Wanted, Penn&Teller Bullshit, Martha Speaks, Dog the Bounty Hunter, The First 48, Ghost Hunters, Dexter, Verminators, Pushing Daisies, the Mighty Bee.....I think that's it.

I do like medical shows.  I was watching something the other night called "Mystery Diagnosis" and I really enjoyed it. :)

Favorite Books:

I don't read as many books as I'd like to.  I spend more of my time researching random things (I like researching folklore and myths!), so I read in a different way.

Really, I'm just different, but many people don't consider reading documentaries and such as "reading", so I normally just say I don't read much.  But then if I say I don't read, I'm assumed to be an idiot, and since I looooove writing, I'm assumed to be inadequate. :(  There are more ways to gain imagination than reading fantasy novels!

Just because you READ, doesn't make you a good author.  Being an author requires a lot of things! XP

I read more as a child.  Read a LOT.  I used to love the Babysitters Club and I'd read just about any horse book.  I have fond memories of those books, and have kept most of them as keepsakes.

I do enjoy the Harry Potter series, the Northern Lights (aka Golden Compass), Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain....there was another one, but I can't remember what it is.  Watch, I'll remember after I post this. lol

Oh!  It was Elvenbane.  I read that in highschool and coveted the book so much that the librarian let me keep it during the summer so I could love it some more!

I also remember fondly loving the Dragons Blood series. <3

I tend to be a picky reader with books.  Most of the books I read nowadays I saw first as movies and wanted the book experience.

I think I also don't ALLOW myself to read, because when I read I do nothing else until I'm finished.  So if I read a lot, I know I'd never get anything else done, ever.  My randomness with online researching keeps my brain happy enough. :)

I also don't really want to be influenced by other authors.  I'm really trying to find my "style" with my own writing.  Learning from others is an excellent tool, but I really feel like in this part of my life, I need to concentrate on my own thing. :)

Favorite Quotes:
