Poem or Reality?

Love.....
What is that beastly emotion?
Why at the sound of it does the heart weep
In joy or sorrow?
What hold does it have over the human mind?
And what does it do for the one's soul?
Is it the greatest thing one has experienced
Or the only thing people regret?
Why then bury beneath all the love
We often find hate?
Is the true meaning actually portrayed
When individuals seek after the heart
Or is it just a word used to get what we want?
But what is it we all want?
And when we do find what we want
Is it better than what we need?
Is it worth the heartache and pain
That tends to drown out the noise in the background?
How often the words "I LOVE YOU" are said.....
After the fourth time, does it still sound like music to one's ears
Or does it get annoying?
How often can one's heart be broken by the after effects of this plague?
They say it's a disease of the heart, mind and soul
But after the love sick what comes next?
Do we love again or do we shut down and give up?
I guess we just have to try and find out if it was worth it the second time around .....
