1. Andy.
2. Filipino. Pilipino. Pinoy. Noypi. Bicolana. Catandunganon. Viracnon.
3. University student, graduating at the end of this academic year.

5. I want to try understanding things even though I live in a different context.
6. Open-minded. Opinionated but not intolerant.
7. Objective. But can understand individual subjectivities.
8. You can talk to me about anything (see requests)
9. Can be funny, can be serious. Can be both at the same time.
10. Kind of eccentric. Weird at times.
11. But can tolerate other people's eccentricities.
12. ...and I am also like everybody else - trying to assert our own uniqueness.
13. Can be thrifty in words, depending on the atmosphere.
14. Horror vacuist (-.0). And at the same time…
15. …Minimalist.
16. Quixotic. And I am aware that I am.

No. Not Legofied. If we all are, that would be the end of mankind. Creepy.
I'm just changing as I grasp ideas every second.
So...

18. I'm more than what I can describe here.

There's more to life than that. :-)

In conclusion...hello.
Thanks for dropping by. And an additional thanks if you even bother to scroll down and read on, hahaha…. :D

Requests:

ANY people of different race and ethnicity, age, and gender.
Those who are willing to share their ideas, culture, experiences, rants, etc. But you can share anything actually. Random things. [The legions of ants attacking your hot morning coffee (I know the feeling), the wreath-making workshop in your town (hahahaha), the weekend hunting and gathering activity in the forest, the history of your country, your anti-(*insert here*) rants and critiques, existential angst, philosophical musings, pop cultural idiosyncrasies, books you recently bought,...whatever really. anything.]]

Those who are willing to trade interesting loooong letters are most welcome (email and snail mails). :-)
But wall post and short messages are also great. :-) I hope people who have something to say about what they think and what they do.

Snail mails: Maybe trade something from our countries (that can fit the envelope of course. I can't send a tarsier or a reticulated python or a Philippine eagle! Haha.)...maybe some random bus tickets, candy wrappers, leaves...junk. whatever. :-)

...and one thing is for sure, I won't ask anything from you and I can't afford to give you anything but sincere friendship and/or conversation.

**I decline to random friend requests. Talk to me first and let's see.

Language Exchange Requests:

I can help with English and Tagalog.

*My native language is BIKOL, just one of the 171 native languages spoken in the country (specifically Bikol-Virac. Bicol varies across towns).

I used to put many languages on the 'Languages you want to learn' part. But it comes out in my profile as the languages I am 'Learning'. So they migrated here:

Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Latin, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Turkish, Yiddish, Japanese, Dutch.

But though I'm still learning these languages through picking up words and phrases, and reading texts in that language...not necessarily hardcore study. :-)

My requests? Maybe some conversation partners to help me improve.

Interests, Hobbies, etc.:

Hobbies: reading, watching movies, listening to music, surfing the net, collecting any magazine covers (from the net), writing, drawing, traveling, imagining (the poor substitute to experience if you can’t afford to experience it :-) but more powerful because anything can happen. And makes you forget the whirlwind outside, even for a moment.), drowning myself in my imagined world, sleeping (and, yes, dream of home – miles away), walk outside, observe people, collect tangible things valuable for me (from shampoo bottles to a pebble I stumbled on the street – it’s history. It’s a priceless junk in time – well, at least, for me. Hehehehe…), collecting instant coffee sachets, gazing on awfully nice, splendid, or just plain distracting sights in the hopes of inhaling or ingesting it somehow :D (like food in a magazine if I’m too broke to eat and breathtaking views, architecture, etc. if I  feel like I’m surrounded by negative things), fanning myself in this furnace (hehehe…), talking to myself and my imaginary friends in my creaky old boarding house, talking to my ceiling (yet it's still threatening to fall down on me, seriously), and… did I mentioned reading?

Interests: books, art, literature, architecture, theatre, music, movies, television, cinema, magazines, newspapers, anything to read (including bus tickets), [idiosyncrasies of] society and culture, race and ethnic relations, migration, languages, world history (especially from the point of view of the ‘minor’ players), pre-colonial Philippines, Philippine history, modern history (hahahahaha…), social psychology, study of religion, global politics, anthropology, Third World feminism, sunrise and sunsets, Mandalas, [Aztec, Mayan, Olmec, Inca and native American tribal groups] art and culture, Islamic art and culture, irony and sarcasm, colors, psychedelic, photographs, sepia and/or black-and-white photographs, portraits, the sound of silence, random bracelets and wristbands - I have a lot of that, Manila cacophony, Chinese music and culture, graffiti, urban culture, intricate designs and patterns(any designs: decorative design, human designs, structural designs, cultural designs. I hate sampling designs for now.), all shades of brown, coffee or tea, the ocean and the sea, rainforest, mountains, comic books, graphic novels, e-books, the dynamics that is happening in social networking sites like this (isn’t that interesting?), horizons (but too bad I can't reach them...hehehehe)…

Random, I know. I should stop. What's this called...TMI? Hehehe...(too much information).

Favorite Quotes:

"We don't see things as they are; we see things a we are."

“Wisdom has two parts: 1. Having a lot to say, and 2. Not saying it.”

Similarly,
"Sometimes, there are reasons why we don't want to talk about things. 1. When it means nothing, 2. When it means everything."

“Know thyself? If I knew myself, I'd run away.”  -- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe [but knowing yourself means facing your fears, right?)

The firmer your adherence to a set of beliefs, the more intolerant you are.

I can't express anger. That's my problem. I internalize everything. I just grow a tumor instead. -- Woody Allen

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...
                         --- Imagine, John Lennon

"Everybody has a secret world inside of them. All of the people of the world, I mean everybody. No matter how dull and boring they are on the outside, inside them they've all got unimaginable, magnificent, wonderful, stupid, amazing worlds. Not just one world. Hundreds of them. Thousands maybe." --Neil Gaiman

"Man, I see in Fight Club the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see it squandered. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables — slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our great war is a spiritual war. Our great depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars, but we won't. We're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off." --Tyler Durden, Fight Club

"Time flies like an airplane. Fruit flies like a banana." - Groucho Marx.
