About Me:
Cosmopolitan Swiss lady, happily single & without children; much into travelling & books (my two biggest passions indeed); free-spirit & independent; constantly trying to enrich my life through exchanges with people from different backgrounds as well as by reading books of all kinds; human rights are a big & important issue for me (after all I've been working with Amnesty International since 2003) as well as feminist matters too!
Requests:
After a kind of difficult year (2009) concerning penpalling (both because of work & of people I used to correspond with...long story!) which made me losing as well as having to drop several pals I used to correspond with, I am now back on the right tracks, having sorted out both life & the kind of stressful situation concerning certain people...so I thought I might have a look back here to see if there are still some genuine people left out there!
I'm looking for snailmail penpals only (i.e. people committed to stay in touch by writing actual letters to each other)...pals who are into writing medium-long & chatty letters on regular intervals...personally I cannot always write back immediately (especially if it gets stressful at work which is demanding), but I always try to reply back within 1-2 months at the most & would therefore appreciate if pals could write within the same time-range as well. Pals should have a keen interest in books & travels as well.

Interests, Hobbies, etc.:
Literature & reading (I am an avid & passionate reader: I could not imagine a life without books which I have quite a big collection of…I think I must have at least 850 books altogether so far), travelling, listening to music (I have loads of LPs & CDs as well), going to the cinema & to the theatre, going to cafés (I absolutely love coffee!!!), snailmail-penpalling (I adore writing & receiving letters!), history, art, photography & socialising (i.e. meeting up with friends & knowing new people)

Favorite Quotes:
"If we live our lives the right way then everything we do can become a work of art."
"Well, isn't it comforting to know that being miserable is still better than being an idiot?"
"Hope comes in many forms."
"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived … I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did I wish to practice resignation, unless it was quite necessary. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout all that was not life, to cut a broad swath and shave close, to drive life into a corner, and reduce it to its lowest terms..."
