About Me:
I'm a forty year old father of two, living in Belgium, Europe.
I recently decided to start over, on my own, for I think one shouldn't settle for less than genuine happiness, though it scared the living daylights out of me.
I'm always interested in meeting new people, broadening my horizon and view and learning more about people and the world we live in.

Requests:
If you're up to sharing ideas, interests or just for a good chat, you can add me. If you're looking to get married, good luck.
Interests, Hobbies, etc.:
I like spending a fair amount of time on the internet, for it's an interesting means of communication as well as a great medium.
I play chess online, I recently discovered weiqi, but am not good at it yet.
I like reading, various stuff, took an interest in photography and am going to learn chinese in evening classes as of September 2009.
I like food, heck yeah do I love food, and usually cook my own dinner.
I'm personally convinced that people should keep learning new things, throughout their lives. Our brain is like a muscle that needs to be exercised.

Favorite Music:
I like various styles of music.
Ones I definately am not too fond of: Schlager and rap
Lately I find myself enjoying classical and symphonical music more and more. It somehow seems to be more correct, complete.
Pop I like:
Björk, Carmel, Coldplay, Fleetwood Mac, Kate Bush, John Denver, Mike Oldfield, REM, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Smiths, The Sundays,Dire Straits and more
Some rock I like:
Neil Young, Nirvana,The Doors,Led Zeppelin,Deep Purple
Some uncategorised:
Neil Diamond, Bob Dylan, Frank Zappa

Favorite Movies:
Although I usually attend main stream movies - I am a father of two - I prefer the alternative ones.
Quentin Tarrantino always seem to please my cinematic cravings.
I also like Peter Greenaway's style and movies.
As well as David Lynch.
The latter two for their (sometimes) weird stories and the atmosphere their movies breath. The use of colours, especially Greenaway.

Favorite TV Shows:
On tv their are a variety of series I like, though I wouldn't specifically stay in to see them.
There's means of recording, you know.
Let's see:
MD House, CSI( navy ncis, csi miami, the whole lot( pathology ), Friends, Heroes , StarGate Atlantis, and some British series on Saturday evenings, police and detective mostly, with beautiful landscapes of the British country side.

Favorite Books:
I like reading some pre-revolution russian authors like Nabokov, and am looking for Bunin now.
I read various stuff, from novels to poetry, to manuals.
Fiction, non-fiction, it's all the same to me.
It's all in the writer's eye and mind, right?
And even then, we need to be able to grasp his/hers meaning.
I settle for what I can take and make of it.
Usually I start with enjoying the style, if possible.
I like:
Oscar Wilde, William B. Yeats, Vladimir Nabokov ... and more
I must:
Look into the German classics soon.

Favorite Quotes:
We live in illusion and the appearance of things. There is a reality. We are that reality. When you understand this, you see that you are nothing, and being nothing, you are everything. That is all.

hello, I was interested in the 2nd line of your profile as that is the situation I am in. Yes, it is as scary as hell. Luckily, my kids are independent and I don't have that worry.
I also spend a fair bit of time on the net, chatting about whatever is of interest// how great or crappy our day was.. is usually a good start and then the conversations go from there.

Hello Dadoftwo,
Thank you! Yes, it is Canada Day today. Getting ready for a picnic and fireworks tonight. :) How did you know it was Canada Day. I don't imagine that is a well known fact in Belgium.
À propos, je m'appelle vraiment Claudette. :)
