About Me:

I love to laugh. I like dry red wine. Dark chocolate. People who are passionate about something. I am a journalist and I always have a million questions. Is Luigi Barzini's book about Italians full of stereotypes or truths? To me, Italy looks and smells and tastes old and rich and beautiful, like the Wild West town where I live. I love the language. One of my favorite words is cinque. What does it feel like to someone who has always lived there? What are the secret places and secret things you never find out wandering around the Piazza Navona....
Please let's talk before you make a friend request!

Requests:

I want to know your story. I want to know what you think and why and what you're wondering about and what truth you've stumbled on and how. I am afraid I may seem nosy. If so, I am sorry. Mi dispace, but to me, like with Charles Dickens, the story is everyones' stories put together.
Puo auttarmi?

Language Exchange Requests:

Je voudrais parler francais meilleur.
I am beginning to learn Italian and LOVE IT.  I would love to help someone with English in exchange for learning Italian.

Interests, Hobbies, etc.:

Coffee, stories, words, laughing and laughing. Jogging, yoga, nature, books.

Favorite Music:

World music. The Talking Heads. Joni Mitchell. Classical guitar, The Black Eyed Peas, Joan Armatrading, Tracy Chapman, James Taylor, Sanseverino, Fibre de Verre., Bob Marley....

Favorite Movies:

Right now I think it's Something's Gotta Give; Under a Tuscan Sun and Yes Man because that's where I am. I have liked deep, intellectual, foreign films that would make me look really smart but right now I want to feel good and happy and brave.

Favorite TV Shows:

Don't really watch TV

Favorite Books:

Lewis Thomas: The Medusa and the Snail; Lives of a Cell; Dickens Great Expectations; Eat Pray Love;  Bill Bryson A Short History of Nearly Everything; The Egg and I; Travels with Charley; A Year in Provence; Surprised by Joy; A Country Year, Living the Questions; The Writing Life; Pride and Prejudice. I never finished Walden because Henry David Thoreau was so damned smug (Sorry Ace)  and by the time they got to sea in Moby Dick, I didn't care anymore.

Favorite Quotes:

Where do I start: Our Deepest Fear by Marianne Williamson--all of it.
The Invitation by Oriah Mountain Dreamer. And a long one by John Steinbeck about how he doesn't know why he ever starts a novel when he knows it's an impossible task. That always encourages me.
