About Me:
Hello everyone!
So I'm Hirere, currently studying at Otago university. In my first year as well, studying Anthropology/ Archaeology and for this year Maori studies. I'm a fluent speaker of Maori so if you want help or want to know a certain word I'm sure I can help you with it.
Writting letters is something I love to do as it takes my mind of uni and work and lets me get to know others from around the world and also to build some sort of network.
If you want to know anything else just send a pm or post on my wall, please no friend requests if we haven't exchanged words before. Also I'm not one for giving out my msn address the first time you ask.

Requests:
No BF/ GF proposals please,. other then that I'm willing to talk to anyone.
Interests, Hobbies, etc.:
I love to photograph things that most others don't notice...well sometimes anyway. I also love looking at photographs of the world and animals just to keep me thinking of what's out in the widder world.
Reading takes up a bit of my time and I'd like to maybe write my thoughts and ideas out one day when my English has improved a little because at the moment it sucks. Maori is my first language and I only learnt how to read English when I was 12, I taught myself thanks to some awesome books that caught my imagination from the start.
I love animals of most shapes and sizes though cats and snakes scare the crap out of me, a bad experience with cats at a young age left me traumatized and now...no I'm kidding but I have to say cats are secretly evil. Seeing as I've never seen a real snake I wouldn't know if I fear them or not but for now I'm going to say I do.
I try and be as family orientated as possible while trying to seem 'cool'. Lol I love my family and spending time with them when ever I get the chance.
Headted discussion is awesome but I tend to stear clear of it because like others I over react while not reading or hearing properly.

Hey Hirere! How are you? It's good to hear from you again! :]
Yeahh, I know the feeling, I've been pretty busy with school too! Well Thanksgiving break is next week and I'm thrilled about that because I haven't had a break from school since August when I was on summer vacation. Speaking of which, it's so weird for me think that it'll be summer in New Zealand soon. But that's cool- I wish it were about to be summer here, but instead winter is on its' way. =/ I just hope it snows; I love snow! I live in Maryland and snows here sometimes, but it's never that much snow; not nearly as much snow as states like New York or Minnesota get.
So you're going to Australia for vacation? That does sound so exciting to me! What city are you going to? How long is your summer vacation?
Take care! Hope to hear from you soon! :]
^.^

Hey Hirere! How are you? Wow, I apologize for not writing you back. I couldn't sworn I did though! Anyway, how've you been doing lately? How's school? Anything new?
I have missed talking to you! Hope all is well with you on the other side of the world! :]

I think I've listened to Paramore's new album about 8 or 9 times since Saturday. Ahhh, I really do love it! When I first listened to it, I thought it sounded a different than the Paramore songs I was used to listen to. But once I really paid attention to the lyrics, I realized that it was the same Paramore, just more mature and with 'brand new eyes.' :] The whole album is awesome, but my fav. songs are: Careful, Brick By Boring Brick, Turn It Off, Where The Lines Overlap, and Misguided Ghosts.
I sadly don't know of any New Zealand artists. I know of some Australian artists, but not any kiwis. I've never heard of Manchester Orchestra, but I have heard of Muse, though I've never really heard anything by them. I like The Killers too. I can talk all day about music as well.
Yes I like 'Whale Rider'. I thought it was good! But that's the only more about the Maori culture that I know of. I hadn't heard of those Maori actors before, but after I looked them up, I know who they are now.
That's really cool that Maori is your first language even though you live in an English-speaking country. Does anyone else in your family know English? I wish I had learned a second language at a young age. I didn't start learning Spanish until I was 13 years old. I've studied it in school for about 6 years now. I'm still not fluent, but I'd like to be one day. Besides English and Maori, do you know any other languages? Anthropology and Maori studies- that's very interesting! What year in university are you?

Hey Hirere! How are you? Thanks for writing me back so quickly! :)
Interesting name you have, Hirere! I love asking people about their names. My name, Tiana means Princess or Fairy Queen. ^.^
My taste in music is really eclectic, but I listen to mostly I like rock/alternative/indie, pop, and soul music. I especially love American bands and international pop music. Last week, I was really into British pop artists. This week, I'm really into Paramore's new album, 'brand new eyes'. Have you heard it? It's amazing! I LOVE Paramore and really hope to see them in concert one day!
I think New Zealand is a gorgeous country in photos, though I don't know much about it. I've only heard of the Maori culture thanks to the movie 'Whale Rider'. Beyond that, I don't know much about the Maori culture either. The Maori population in the US is not very big, so I'm sure most Americans don't know about it. But I am quite interested about this culture and about New Zealand. So I read that Maori is your first langage, not English- that's interesting! Was it hard for you to learn English? Did you grow up in a Maori community?
Okay, this is all for now! Hope to hear from you soon! Have a nice day! :)

Kia ora! :] I'm Tiana, I'm 20 from America! Nice to meet you Hirere! How do you pronounce your name and what does it mean? You have great taste in music! I too like Paramore, Linkin Park, Coldplay, Lady Gaga, and Katy Perry! House and The Simpsons are 2 of my fav. shows as well! At the moment, I'm really interested in New Zealand and I'm especially interested in Maori culture. I've never known anyone who was of Maori descent, so I'm eager to learn more about your culture! :] What's it like living in New Zealand? Were you born and raised there?
Take care and hope to hear from you soon!

How did the essay go ?:) i'm sure you have heard about K. Dick, at least about movies they made from his books, like Blade runner.
So far my phone is doing ok, still a bit strange without keys. :)

I'm snooping around but i sure need to take some decent photos. I got myself a samsung s5320, it has touch screen and i'm scared! it's the first cell phone i own that does more then just calls, i hope it will survive with me for some time.
i think i want some sci-fi books, but not sure what should i check first, i know only Philip K. Dick, so i have to do some research :)
