Hiragana and Katakana are mandatory to learn if you live in Japan^^ You also need to learn some Kanjis as we write sentences with the combinations​ of hiragana and kanji ^^;; Again... you still have a lot of time before coming to Japan. Keep studying ^^

By the way... my sister's in Canada now. She's staying in Toronto for 2 months. Is it far from where you live ? Have you ever been there ?
