Ah, the History Channel is also my favorite to watch. I love history, especially military history, natural disasters, and great epidemics.
When reading books I like something that is going to pull me in. Off the top of my head I think of "The Devil in the White City" by Erik Larson. This non-fiction story is set in the 19th century when the World Fair was in Chicago. The plot is about how H.H.Holmes used his hotel for visiting tourists to conduct a series of murders. He said he killed 27 people but it is believed the actual number of deaths could be as high as 200.
