I am not saying that English is an easy language-- even native speakers will not use it correctly. For my second job I am a tutor at my university. One of my duties is to take on individual students for composition tutoring. I also proofread papers during designated times on certain days of the week. When I encounter a student's sentence that is very wrong I read it aloud to them so they can hear the error and correct it. However, a lot of students cannot even hear it is wrong. They still will not understand when I explain it. Fortunately my parents read a lot to me when I was younger, and when I learned to read I did so voraciously. I agree with you that many things are lost in translation. I encounter this with my studies in Spanish.

I am doing well, thank you. I am recovering from holiday-sanctioned gluttony. In other words: I ate entirely too much for Thanksgiving dinner. And how are you doing? Anything new and exciting?

I see that you wish to be an English teacher. What made you decide to study English? I am just a little curious, I am an English Literature major with a concentration in English Writing, and I am taking Spanish as my second major. What is your opinion of the English language? I always hear general stories from teachers that English is a difficult language to learn, but I have never had the opportunity to hear personal experiences.

So all of your celebrations are different days each year according to the Gregorian calender? It's the same for Jewish holidays.
Thanksgiving is a good time to relax with friends and family and along with being thankful, we remember the one day in the 1600s when European settlers and the Native Americans put aside their differences and celebrated the harvest.
I also help my Christian friends start to decorate for Christmas.

Hey SeongBae,

Great to hear that you're on the mend.
The weekend was great for me too, I felt a big burden has been lifted off my shoulders since my final was over and done with. On Sat night I let down my hair and painted the town red with my friends and didn’t get back until 4 am.^^
How was your weekend, did you do anything nice?

I live with my family and this year I might go with my friends to attend a Christmas eve mass eventhough I'm neither a Christian or Catholic.
Over here Chrissie is a family affair and it's very quiet around since everything is shut on that day. The hustle bustle begins again on Boxing Day (26th) when everywhere there's a big crazy sales on and it's a madhouse, don't ever think of going shopping on this day. Crowds lined up outside the shopping centers way before opening time so that they could be the first to make a dash in to get hold of the best bargain.

In Aussie the seasons are the other way round compare to Korea, you’re now at the end of autumn while us here, we’re in spring and summer will be on 1st Dec. So you should say to me instead 'Keep cool' .... kkkkk

PS: Thank-you very much.

Hi SeongBae,

That’s ok about your late reply, no worries at all. I haven’t logged in here for more than 2 days myself since I was cramming for my finals and now I’m all done, the smell of freedom is so heavenly. I have these few days off and then next Mon I start my summer classes from Mon to Fri about 2 to 3 hours per day, this will keep me out of trouble until Christmas...haha

I’m so sorry to hear that you have been feeling unwell. How are you now? I hope you get better soon. Please rug up and take good care since it’s getting so much colder and colder in Korea.

Chrissie is coming soon but I still have yet to go shopping for gifts for my family, thinking of what presents to buy always give me headaches and due to this I always leave it to the last minute which I know it’s pretty bad. Do you celebrate Chrissie and do you give gifts out to your family?

Stay well and keep warm and get well soon!

Actually, I'm Jewish. Our holy book is the Tanakh, which is almost the same as the old testament of the Christian Bible.

Hi SeongBae,

No worries you're most welcome.
I'm so happy to hear that my words can be your tower of strength.
When will your TOEFL be? All the best of luck in it and may you pass it with flying colors.

I had a tiring day today, I went for lunch and shopping with a friend, she dragged me all over the shops that I came back with sore legs hence I decided to stay home to recuperate, unable to go out partying. TT.TT Tomorrow morning I'll be helping/teaching some disable children at a equestrian center how to ride and other than this nothing else planned, just playing it by ear. What about you, what have you got planned this weekend?
