well i live in the Welsh valleys which is quite a historic place really... there used to be loads of industrial work here in coal mines, steel works etc so it has a lot of history.. all of the places have shut now though so there's this big re-development thing going on to bring business and things back to the valleys... haha
it's quite different to the cities that are about half an hour away too.. it just depends where you go :)
