Willows growing by the water
Listen to songs of the east wind
And to its enchanting laughter
East wind sings stories of the sea
Of seals that frolic in the foam
Of sandy beaches and mighty waves
That thunder on the shore
Willows weep when east wind leaves
Begging it for more

Willows growing by the water
Listen to songs of the south wind
And to its captivating laughter
South wind sings of distant lands
Where dusky maidens dance
With red flowers in their hair
Willows weep when south wind leaves
And wish that they were there

Willows growing by the water
Listen to songs of the west wind
And to its charming laughter
West wind sings of mountain spires
Where rivers are new born
Of golden eagles soaring high
Willows weep when south wind leaves
Wishing they could fly

Willows growing by the water
Listen to songs of the north wind
And to its enthralling laughter
North wind sings of polar bears
Of frozen icy lands
Where homes are made of snow
Willows weep when north wind leaves
Wishing they could go

Sleepy willows nod their heads
And in wonder gaze
As moonbeams and fairy lights
Shimmer upon the waves.
