About Me:
The section that nobody seems to know what exactly to write in!
Let's see, I'm a 25 years old girl from Germany who would like to get to know new people around the globe. I am small and most of my friends like to make fun of that. At least I don't have trouble with finding a boyfriend who is taller than I am, hah! My eyes are green and my hair is some weird mousy brown which I haven't seen since I was 12. Currently I have dark brown hair but I have tried different shades of red, brown, blue-black, violet and even a freaky neon red in the past. I wish I had naturally black hair but no such luck (with four black-haired grandparents...I'm a genetic anomaly).
I'm a friendly person who laughs a lot, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy sarcastic humour. I'm a daydreamer and also a person who tends to over-think things and who is already three steps ahead in her mind without actually having done the first step.
A few random facts about me:
I like to sing along with whatever the radio or (more likely) my favourite CD of the moment offers when I drive. I bet I look like a head case to the drivers next to me. My dad always tells me I'll be in an accident one day because I switch from one radio station to another all the time until I find something acceptable.
I love strawberries (the proper German ones which didn't have to go for miles and miles to get here just to taste like...nothing) and chocolate. Oh and no other country has proper muesli - no day without muesli in the morning! :)
I love snow and I wish we could have more of it in winter. Where did all the great winters go? Is this the global warming or just Mother Nature refusing to fulfil my dreams of snow all over the place?!
I love the colour green, especially dark green. When I was a child I used to be all for red. I drove my mom crazy, because I wanted all my clothes to be red.
Looking for the worst sleepyhead ever? Here I am. I have three alarm clocks to get going in the morning and I'm lucky to hear the third. People in the room next to me are already awake and come over to switch off my alarm clocks while I am still sleeping peacefully. I can fall asleep everywhere and at virtually every time. Must be some rare disease :P I hate getting up early in the morning with a passion but am strangely productive at night - between midnight and 4 a.m. is the best time of the day.
I love the sea and being near the water. Must be all those years of living in Rostock (I moved here to study), it's nice to have the beach less than 30 minutes away. :)
In some ways I am a typical girl: I cry when watching sad movies or reading sad books. But I don't care much about fashion for example and I don't have a wardrobe only for my shoes. Mostly I just wear my favourite pair until it needs replacement.
Everybody seems to drink coffee...I don't. I just don't like it and I can't imagine I ever will. I'm also a very picky eater and h'ell to cook for I guess.
Some not so random facts about me:
I am a medical student hoping to be a paediatrician after I graduate, but I still have a few years in university ahead until that will happen. Can't say that student life is the best thing ever, I think I'd prefer work.
Oh, even though I'm a medical student I am very afraid of needles when it's not me who is holding them. I hate being poked with them. Bit weird for someone wanting to be a doctor, but weird is good.
I've got a little girl of seven years who really is my absolute pride and joy. Being a mom is great and I wouldn't miss that experience for anything in this world. She has just started primary school last September and even if this new life is exhausting it's fun, too. Watching her grow up is the most exciting thing ever. I believe firmly that everything is still possible even if you have a child. It might be more difficult to reach a goal or it might take longer, but nothing does suddenly become impossible.
I believe in real friendship through letters, it is possible. Some of my pen-pals know more about what I am like on the inside than real life friends do. I really enjoy sharing my life through pen and paper and I always try to learn as much as possible about my pen-pal's life as well.
I have a weird discrepancy between my "outside" and my "inside" personality. On the outside I'm usually that bubbly person who laughs a lot and chatters away and always tries to look confident. On the inside I can be really shy, I'm a thinker and dreamer.
I believe that you notice quickly if you "click" with a new person you meet or in case of this place: get a first message from. So if I don't reply, it's nothing personal - maybe I just didn't feel we'd click and I see no point in trying to build a friendship if you don't feel like it.
Phew...now that should give a little impression of what I am like. :)

Requests:
Oh, quite a lot to be honest! I am pretty picky when it comes to choosing new friends. If I can see immediately from your message that you didn't read my profile at all, I will not reply - I'm not writing this just for you to ignore it.
First the obvious stuff: I won't give money (but feel free to send me some :p) to anyone or help someone to get into my country.
I'd like to get in touch with people somewhere around my age, just because I feel we'd have more in common. That doesn't mean you have to be exactly my age, just not 20 years older or 10 years younger I guess.
I'm a snail mail fan - I do write long and interesting letters and I would like my pen-pals to do the same. I write emails as well, but mostly snail mail. However, I can't guarantee a letter every month or so. Sometimes life just gets in the way and even I am not always in the mood to write. So if you feel neglected really quickly, I might not be the person you're looking for.
Apart from that I don't care about the country you come from, your race or sexual orientation - as long as you're an interesting person! I also don't care about what you believe in as long as you respect that I don't believe in any deity.
I will not add anyone as a friend if I haven't exchanged a few messages first. Clicking a button is not friendship for me.
I hate chat-speak and horrible grammar. I will not reply to messages where I have to decipher the meaning first.
Please don't write to me if you're looking for romance. I will not believe you that you're just after friendship when your profile states that you are looking for a relationship (and nothing else).
No, I don't have yahoo, MSN or whatever messenger you have and I probably won't get it just for you.
I will not answer to messages that are only one or two sentences long, you should write a bit more about you. If you can't make the effort, then I probably won't be interested.
So, if after all that you still think that you want to write to me please don't hesitate. Despite all the things I put up here, I love to hear from new people and I don't bite. I'm always happy to find a creative first message in my inbox! :)

Language Exchange Requests:
I speak German fluently (well, obviously!) and the same goes for English. That doesn't mean I'll teach anyone. I just don't have the time and I don't believe that you can learn a language over the internet without someone teaching you how to pronounce everything etc. I'll help with questions, yes, but no complete teaching.
I took French in school and was good at it, but I forgot a lot after I finished school and didn't practise it any longer. I still understand a lot, but can't express myself as well as I'd like to.
Oh, and I started to learn Norwegian last September! My knowledge is still very, very basic but I enjoy learning new languages so my Norwegian class is always fun. :)

Interests, Hobbies, etc.:
I love to read, I'm a real bookworm and it's hard to catch me without a book. Whether I'm in bed, on the sofa, in the bathroom brushing my teeth, on the bus or train - all good places to read. I usually carry at least one book with me.
I like to travel and see something of the world that I haven't seen before (or returning to a place that I liked). A rather expensive hobby when you're a poor student so I do some of travelling through reading guidebooks just for fun and imagine where I would go. High on my list: some northern place to see the aurora, INDIA - I'd love to see that country! - oh and a trip through Central America would be great, starting in Mexico and ending in Panama. :P
Music! Listening to it, going to concerts or just singing along to my favourite songs while driving or doing stuff around the house.
Of course I also enjoy writing long and chatty letters. I'm not a big fan of putting a ton of stickers on them and always using stationary and glitter pens - I don't mind if someone does, it's just that I usually don't do it. I started pen-palling once I learned how to write. First in German only and later in English (when I was 12, I think) and even a few French letters in between. I have met two of my pen-pals in real life as well and it was a great experience both times. My long-term pals and I have been exchanging letters for about 18 years (my first pal ever) or 12 years (in case of my earliest international pal) - so I really am one for a long friendship!
Photography, especially black and white pictures. My bathroom tiles are decorated with a bunch of black and white postcards. :)
I am a creative person and always have some sort of art project going. I enjoy painting wooden boxes, making cards (for birthdays, Christmas...), glass painting, making candles, painting in general, making collages and so many more little projects. There's always something. I'm also into the whole interior decorating thing, one day when I'm filthy rich I want every room in my apartment to have a different "theme". :)

Hmm, a lot of stuff on TV is rubbish (at least in my opinion) and I really, really hate that every single series and movie gets dubbed with nasty German voices, I would SO prefer to get the original versions!
Still, I like:
South Park (especially the old episodes)
House M.D.
Scrubs

Favorite Quotes:
"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye" - Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
and from a children's book:
"Kein Weg war ihnen zu steinig, kein Abhang zu steil, keine Kurve zu scharf und keine Pfütze zu tief.
Hinter dem Hühnerstall, bei der Regentonne, schworen sie sich ewige Freundschaft und beschlossen nie mehr auseinander zu gehen"
