About Me:

Please read my profile before you contact me, that's the reason why I wrote it ;-). Thank you.

My name is Charlotte and I would like to meet interesting people for language exchange. If you are interested in learning German, I would love to help you with that.
It would be great to find penpals with similar interests and a good sense of humour.

Requests:

I won't answer 'How r u'- and 'Hi there' messages or friend requests without knowing each other at all - call me old-fashioned ;-).
People from Africa are always welcome when OVER 40 YEARS and NOT asking for MONEY or MARRIAGE.

Language Exchange Requests:

ENGLISH and SPANISH are Intermediate and I would like to be able to do an Upper Intermediate exam on them. I read, translate and understand spoken FRENCH without bigger problems but, thanks to my terrifying teacher, I am not able to speak or write it properly - so I would be very thankful for any kind of help here.
I don't speak or write DUTCH, ITALIAN, ESPERANTO and PORTUGUESE at all and don't have the time to learn that, but I can read and understand these languages more or less well and would like to improve that.
Ten years ago I had started with SANSKRIT, three years ago with MODERN GREEK.. but I had been studying them for a short while only.. now I have to admit, that I am still interested in those languages, driven by the wish to be able to read them properly one day - so the scripts are what I would like to get to know better.. but have no idea how to begin...
These are many languages and I won't be able to do them all, so I'm just waiting for nice people to start with the first one...

Interests, Hobbies, etc.:

Sciences, teaching, internet technology, modern art from Spain and Latin America, hiking, jogging, gardening, cooking, learning more about foreign cultures, history and politics..

Favorite Music:

Alternative, Jazz, R&B.. well..  it depends on the situation.. even Punk (when I need a kick for cleaning the flat), violin concerts and gospel.

Favorite Movies:

Have to think about that..

Favorite TV Shows:

I don't have a TV

Favorite Books:

Sooo many.. but tending more towards poetry (Rilke, Morgenstern, Goethe), science fiction, Terry Pratchett  and some special books like: Phaedrus by Plato or a really wise one on chaos theory, written by Fritz Cramer in a very creative way by mixing scientific facts with poetry.. then.. novels by Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Isabel Allende in Spanish..

Favorite Quotes:

"Surely the Jorullo is the greatest work monks have ever created, and if one is not impressed by the gullibility of a people who claim they can constantly observe how the eternal laws of nature have been abolished, one has to be amazed by the eagerness of this religious caste to do everything in their power in order to base their world on fear."(16)

I am an average man 38 years of age. Friends say I am genuine, easy going, honest kind, faithful to my loved ones, and passionate about all aspects of my life. I think my best quality is my sense of humour. I am very well educatedand I have a keen sense of family. I am just a simple man genuinely searching for his happyness in this life.  Please, noteI am seeking a g woman, who is serious about being here. A woman who has a true sense of love and understands the meaning of the word family. A woman who has real love in her heart, and wants a real life - not fantasy. A woman who does not need to write letters to 50 men to feel complete you can mail me on bruce_1love@yahoo.com
only if you are real but if you are not move to next profile,

OK,

I have read your profile and am very impressed. Is there a key to learning a language? Do you read it, listen to it, have it on a DVD or just emerse yourself with someone that speaks it. For me I am an inventor and find it easy to invent things but personally I think learning a language is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. No idea why my brain has such a hard time with it. I have been working on Spanish but then when I hear someone speaking it nothing sounds familiar. How do you learn?

Hi;
I would like to make good and true friendship with you no matter the age, sex, gender or religion to know a little about your country and its cultures. I'm 32, I'm male of gender and I live in Lomé the capital city of TOGO. Money is not my interest. I believe that through hard working and honesty people could get what they want and let others live free without swindling or hurting them. I'm not interested by proposal of money transfer or invitation to participate youth conference or about job offers in hotels or on ships. I need good and sincere friendship and I need nothing from a friend than trust, truth, frankness and honesty. I like anyone as a friend without any condition whether he or she is cripple or blind, deaf or dumb, black or white, slaves or kings. The very thing I dislike is the lie. Elie

Hi there Liz.  Wow, so many languages, I'm impressed!

I'm just trying to learn Spanish and Portuguese.  I'm a beginner on both.  I know a little more Spanish, but not at all fluent.

Maybe you can help me with the Spanish?  I'm basically starting from scratch.  I could help you with English if you like.
