About Me:
I'm laid back, patient, and always curious. I love learning about new people and places. It's why I'm here. I teach elementary school and have been married for seven years. I love the outdoors, and get out to play whenever possible. I've also recently discovered that I am getting old. I no longer like the kid's fashion or taste in music. The boys clothes all look like girls. All of their pants are tight and sit below the waste. As for the music, there is no more music. It's all singing along to a synthesizer. Eh, I need to go take a nap.
Requests:
Being an American is grand and all, but it also means that I lead a fairly sheltered life by way of having very little "outside influences". Any discussion I have is with another American with similar linguistic and social backgrounds. I am interested in learning about other's cultures, especially Europeans. I'd like to get to know the daily lives of people from cultures other than my own.
Interests, Hobbies, etc.:
Hiking, reading, all sports, sketching, and just about any kind of game be it table top, computer, or video. I'm not much for the fastpaced cosmo life. I'm more at home in my own back yard or on the computer learning about something or someone.
Favorite Music:
I am a fan of the blues, jazz, and east coast rap.
IN the blues genre I like Keb' Mo, Lightnin Hopkins, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Susan Tdeschi, Ray Charles, etc.
For jazz, I like anyone who can make an instrument sing. I like hearing all of the different types of instruments adding their own voices. Squirrel Nut Zippers is a swing/jazz group that is one of my favorites.
For rap, I like Roots, Common, Kanye West, Lauren Hill. People who tell a story with their music, or send out a messege with it. I dislike it when they rap about money, women, drugs, or when they brag. That's not music.

I like nearly anything in the fantasy genre (such as the Dresden Files)or historical fiction (a favourite right now is the Sharpe series by Bernard Cornwell). I always have at least one book going.
Favorite Quotes:
You can never soar with the eagles if you're pecking around with the chickens.
If you're bearing the fruit, your branches are going to be strained.

... and so forth.
Battle rules vary from roleplay to roleplay, but typically you can't kill a character without talking to the IRL player first, as there are no dice or anything. It's only fun when you play with people who are good storytellers and don't make their characters God-like, in that they dodge every bullet and roll from every cut of the sword.
It's more storytelling than roleplaying, I suppose. There are lots of forums for it if you search for them.

Haha, yeah :D
It's for people who want to roleplay over the internet and don't have dice or programs for that or anything. It's not so much D&D as it is writing out a story with other people, with pre-set rules to follow.
Someone creates a board and posts rules and a setting, as well as a character they're going to play. And they write it out like the beginning of a story.
The next person requests to join and thinks up a character of their own, which they then incorporate into the story with their own introduction. Then posts go back and forth. An extremely basic and ill-literate example would be:
"The night was eerily moonless and the village of Versaythe slept under a strange, nervous hush. A man stepped onto the padded dirt street from under an eave, his black cloak shifting about his booted ankles. His eyes had a penetrating gleam, darting about the street for signs of movement."
There's intro one. (Obviously there would be a lot more elaboration than this). Next person could say something like:
"Muffled hoofbeats, slow and steady, could be heard through the center of town, the sound carried easily on the cold night air. Near the end of the main street a horse appeared; it was too dark to make out the shade of his coat. Upon the horse was a man in worn leather garb - the garb of a plainsman. His boots were cracked and his pants were muddy and torn. His once-white tunic was dusty and weathered, covered by a black leather vest, drawstrings hanging loosely over the man's chest. A long, thin sword hung at his waist, plain and dented, and a feathered hat sat atop his short, curly hair. His head was nodding as he rode, apparently on the verge of sleep."
(Ok, that was longer than it needed to be, but I enjoy this kinda thing and got into it :P)
The first person could then reply with his/her character noticing the man on the horse and reacting to him. And then the second person could post their reply to the first man's reaction. And so on and so
