I live up in the mountains in the gold country -- the “gold country” is a north-south strip of the Sierra Nevada foothills about 150 miles long where gold was first mined in California in the mid-1800’s.  I’m a bit of a loner, very happily married to a girl with a similar disposition.​   I’d like to find female penpals in Britain, Western Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.  (My Japanese penpal of many, many years is slowly fading away.  Sigh.)

In no particular order:  astronomy, photography (I’m game, but not very good yet!), figuring out how things work, the history of almost anywhere, business-war​fare, rebuilding this house (slowly!), long walks in the forest, watching the clouds go by!

I read, mostly.  Use the set for rented movies.  I stopped watching TV years ago; there just wasn’t much I wanted to see, and I can’t stand the constant commercials.​
