About Me:
Slightly mad, rather sarcastic and extremely hassled mum to 3 little darlings and 2 cats, living in a small village about 10 miles outside Manchester where very little happens unless you have an unhealthy interest in farm animals! I have more grey hair than is socially acceptable so chemical-enhancement is my new best friend and there's lots of interesting random facts about myself, which you'll have to get to know me to find out :)
I have a great sense of humour, love to talk and write long chatty letters about interesting subjects like books, movies, the existence (or not!) of an afterlife....but also about fluffy subjects such as what you watched on TV, your daily life and shopping. I can talk extensively about shoes :)
I'm a great procrastinator with no firm religious beliefs or any interest in politics, so would be crap at discussions on either subject, although I am fascinated by Wicca and have done some reading on the subject. I don't take life too seriously as its too short for stress. I like to laugh and share laughs
I'm half Canadian, half English and have had the joy of visiting the homeland of half my DNA several times

Requests:
Only FEMALE replies please, the man in my life may not be much use at times, but I'm quite happy and not looking to replace him with someone just looking for a Visa.
Preferably women aged 30+ too, I'm way too out of touch with the current "hip and happening" scene to have much in common with the younger members of the site. My idea of good music was produced over 20 yrs ago :)
Snail mail friends please, I'm rubbish at keeping up with email contacts and I've found that ignoring people for weeks tends to offend :) And if its not too much to ask, no-one who's likely to disappear after a couple of letters or only send a short note masquerading as a letter. I make a huge effort with my mail and its nice when your friends do the same :)
I'd really like to hear from women in Scandanavia, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, but surprise me if you're from anywhere else and think we've enough in common to connect :)

Interests, Hobbies, etc.:
Movies and books are both passions, writing long chatty letters and blogs are my favourite ways to spend an evening
I like to cook but don't claim to be any good at it and I have aspirations of turning the jungles attached to my house into gardens in the very near future. I like to decorate, but am hopeless at DIY. Not at all artistic but can appreciate good work and enjoy visiting galleries and exhibitions.
I love to spend time in the woods near home with the children, we have names for all the Canada geese who live on the river and the squirrels who run up our trees:). I enjoy visiting places with interesting buildings, architecture and a history to the area. A love of taking photos goes hand in hand with this :)
I watch rugby and Formula 1 racing on TV, but don't 'do' sport, other than occassionally taking my daughter horse riding. Walking from the lounge to the fridge to find chocolate, popcorn and ice cream is enough activity for me :)

Favorite Music:
A mix of anything made between the 60's and the 90's, some soft rock and jazz
Favorite Movies:
Shawshank Redemption - Phone Booth - Flatliners - Leon - Dangerous Minds - Pitch Black - Fast & The Furious (but Tokyo Drift was crap!) - The Island - all the Harry Potters! - Patriot - Evolution - Coyote Ugly - The Mummy & The Mummy Returns - A Few Good Men - The Lost Boys -
I'm not a fan of chick-lit, rom-com type films, although I confess to loving Titanic and it gives me a lump in my throat every time I watch it :)

Favorite TV Shows:
Addicted to '24', mad on Dr Who and Torchwood, loved Ghost Whisperer, Primeval and Sugar Rush, enjoy watching CSI
Favorite Books:
Books by Jodie Picoult, Judy Astley, Marion Keyes, Nicci French, Minette Walters, Ruth Rendell, Jonathan Kellerman, Mary Higgins Clark, Donna Leon, Philip Pulman.....Again, a reflection of my dislike of chick lit.
On the factual side, I enjoy true crime stories and books about Ancient Egypt and Mythology. I've never enjoyed autobiographies

Well, Ontario is sort of east coast with Manitoba being in the middle. BC where I live is west coast with The Maritime provinces of Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, New Brunswick and PEI being east coast. All of it has wonderful scenery though.
Did you say that you have been out here to the west coast before or just the east coast? it is lovely here really, great scenery.
At work this evening until 11pm but there is a great lot of people staying here to the moment.
take care

Hi, nice to have the days to yourself now. Anything fun to fill them up other than decorating indoors. I have heard how wet the summer has been over there.
still sunny over here but I should not tell you that.

Hi, How is everything over there in the land of the rain. We finally had a little bit over here but only for a day.
Hope that all is going well with you.

Greetings from Stavanger, Norway. Beautiful picture!
Hi, Good to hear from you again. All is well over here. It is sunny and hot for the next couple of days but then it cools off but we have not had too much rain.
I enjoyed reading your profile, you seem to live a blessed life and I envy you :)
Can't believe my letter hasn't shown up yet! I'll send another out this weekend!
Hope your day is going better than mine!
