My name is Marielle and I am looking to make some new friends.  I am 37, female, single with no children.  My elderly parents live with me, my Dad was just recently told he can no longer drive or be left alone so being an only child I stay home with him a lot. This is recent and he is chaffing at the thought of losing his freedom.  I guess I am too, so I could really use some new friends.

I have lots of pets, 8 cats, 2 dogs and 2 ferrets.  Animals are my comfort in life when things get tuff.  My cats, especially the boys, are a great comfort.  I call the ferrets the "anti-d​epression pets" because they are such happy little creatures!  I love to let them play outside of their cage.  I block off the hallway and let them go and as soon as you put them down they start their happy dance.  It's like they get this smile on their faces and joy just emanates from them.  They jump on you so you must play too.  If you know the the child's game parachute?  They love that game so it's interactive!​  They try and play with the cats too.

I work as a Resource Coordinator for an IT company during the day and I get over 300 emails a day I am responsible for reading, if not, responding to, so I really like letter writing and not email.  I find it more personal and relaxing, like having a conversation​ over some wine or sitting on the front porch of an evening.  Sometimes you can have such a bad day at work and when you get home there is a friend waiting for you in your mailbox and it just brightens the day!

I am currently in school studying for my Bachelors of Natural Science and Family Herbalism Certificatio​ns so I would be interested in learning about healing plants from your area.  Well, about anything about where you live would be interesting to me as well as learning about you. 


I hope to hear from you.  I don't care if we don't have much in common to start, I just really like meeting new people.

I am interested in meeting people from all over the world and in the US.  I am interested in music, reading, travel, photography,​ herbology and crocheting (though I am not very good).  I try and take small trips to areas I have never been to before, as a break from everyday life,  and to learn about other places.    I love the mountains and I have never been to the Great Smoky Mountains but the pictures are so beautiful, I would like to see it for myself.  I live near the Shenandoah mountains but they are small in comparison.  I take lots of pictures and I can share them with you as well.  If I can go some where far, I take small day trips and my camera is never far away.  I carry books with me as I am an avid reader.  If I am eating alone I have a book for company.  I read fantasy, romance, sci-fi, historical fiction and regular fiction sometimes.

I listen to almost anything.  My favorite group is Kamelot.

Action, Action, Action.  I'll watch some chick flicks but I need the fast pace of an action movie.  I loved the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

I don't get to watch too much TV.  I loved Deadwood while it was on HBO and La Femme Nikita.  I've been watching Carnivale on DVD, weird show...

I carry books with me as I am an avid reader.  If I am eating alone I have a book for company.  I read fantasy, romance, sci-fi, historical fiction and regular fiction sometimes. 

My favorite book is "The Chalice and the Blade" and ANY Laurell K. Hamilton book.
