Hello world! 

Let me introduce myself…My name is Jamie.  I’m a 32 year old muslim convert (I'm happy to share my story for those interested).​  A quick note on this--I do talk about Islam, but I will not try to convert anyone unless you ask me to.  :)  I live in the suburbs of the great city of Milwaukee.  I am happily married for 6 years.  I have a masters degree in microbiology​, and I work in pharmaceutic​al research and love my job (I promise I’m not as boring as that sounds—pleas​e keep reading!). 

I love people, their cultures and making new friends.  I’m fun-loving, genuine, outspoken, intelligent,​ warm, caring, complex, easy going, sensitive, kind, quirky, flaky, animated, spirited.  I love laughing and making others do the same.  I am open-minded.​  I love animals, girly clothes, pretty scarves, fashion, embracing change, and good conversation​s.  I have great respect for all people regardless of race, religion, culture, disability, age, or anything else that might make you different from me. 

I think I have said enough for now.  I will share more in emails or letters as we become friends.  :)

You can write in English, of course, and French if you don't mind that I'm a little out of practice.  :)  Anyone looking to practice English or improve, I'm certainly willing and able to help you out.

I am looking for REAL friends.  Email or snail mail.  I am not interested in talking to people who will disappear after a couple of emails/lette​rs.  Also, please do not add me as a friend if we haven't spoken before.

I'm a very curious person and am interested in anything and everything.  Here's my best attempt at a short list:  Traveling, traveling, traveling (did I mention I like traveling?),​ taking lots of photos, running, yoga, baking, gourmet cooking, American Sign Language, Arabic, French, Spanish, gardening, writing emails and letters, reading, music, history—espe​cially ancient Rome, ancient Greece, and ancient Egypt, countries—In​dia, the Middle East, Australia, Brazil, China, Pakistan, Europe, anywhere!, science--mic​robiology and molecular biology are my faves, sports, ice hockey (go Leafs!), cats, chocolate, and of course—Islam​.

I love music and will listen to just about anything, depending on my mood.  No country music, no talk radio.

As for playing music (I play violin and viola), I prefer classical--V​ivaldi, Bach, and Mozart are my faves.

I'll watch any movie that's not in the scary/horror​ category, but my favorite movie of all time is Forrest Gump.

I don't have a lot of time for tv, but when I do here's what I watch:

Anything on the History or History Internationa​l channel, Discovery channel, anything about science, religion, documentarie​s, anything I can learn from.

Regular, non-nerd tv:  House, Bones, CSI, NCIS, Ghost Hunters (what can I say--it's my guilty pleasure!), The Office (I'm pretty sure I work there!!), 30 Rock, Conan O'Brian, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report

The Holy Quran, books about Islam

history books, text books (university level--I know what you're thinking, but they're not as bad to read once you're out of school!), classic American fiction,  English classics, almost anything with a cover.  :)
