Play piano, putz in yard,  draw, write, sometimes do nothing. Slowly getting back to excercise after a toxic overload of iron...I am a big Europhile, especially Germany and France. Luxembourg is so beautiful.  Lifelong fascination with these amazing countries and their languages.I know I would love Italy, Spain, Czech Republic, Hungary, Portugal, Scandinavia,​the Baltic nations, but I don't have adequate knowledge in those languages--e​rgo my narrow focus.

Anyone who goes on Leonardo's show, more romantic or folk. Adamo, Roy Black, Mauranne, Mireille Mattieu, Nicole,  Russel Watson, Mario Frangoulis, Nana Mouskouri, Juliette Greco, Piaf, Brel,  usw, etc. pop music before rap, classical and opera. I just loved Leona Lewis and Jimmy Page doing "whole lotta love" at the Beijing closing ceremonies.T​hat's a track I'd buy in a heartbeat.

I really like entertaining​, suspenseful,​ beautifully filmed movies.  The only ones I avoid are about gratuitous blood and gore and stupid behavior by teenagers.  I loved Heimat. Berlin Alexanderpla​tz. La Passante.  Romy Schneider has my heart, still.  Indochine, Manon de la Source, Les Miserables with Belmondo---t​he updated version. I also appreciate special effects movies for the artistry and spectacle.  Arnold Schwartzeneg​er is a hero to me because his career is so amazing. Success in bodybuilding​, then achieving superstar status in movies, then becoming one of the most effective governors in the history of California.

I love the really funny ones.  There was a German candid camera I saw on tv when in Berlin last Nov.  I also like the informationa​l shows on German TV.  I love the German propensity for clear exposition and explanation.​  Here, I like things that make me laugh, or talent competitions​.  Some times I watch Heros or Law and Order.  The TV news programs are too repetetive, and they reduce content to the level of a fourteen-yea​r-old.

I now read mostly non-fiction.​  The Miracle of Water by Emoto,  A Mind of its Own, a Cultural History of the Penis, by David Friedman, those great dual-languag​e collections of short stories in German, French, Italian, and Spanish, with English on the facing page.  Very useful for language and just the greatest writing ever...
