I read this in a book today. What do you think? Powerful statement or meaningless words?


In the space between yes and no, there's a lifetime. It's the difference between the path you walk and one you leave behind; it's the gap between who you thought you could be and who you really are; it's the legroom for the lies you'll tell yourself in the future.

Today I had to fire someone for the first time. As a manager, I know it was the right thing for the company. As a person, it was hard to look into his eyes and tell him that he no longer had a job. It didn't matter that he deserved it. I just kept thinking that this guy now has to go home to his wife and explain that he no longer has a job to help pay for the house they just bought. It was the hardest thing I have had to do in a long time. I felt horrible.

Do you ever feel like something is missing? You might be happy in general, but there is still something lacking. What is it? How do you find it? I think we are all born with the desire to be a part of something greater then ourselves. I am interested in hearing your thoughts on this.
