Hello everyone,

We've added a new feature to Interpals to ensure the security and safety of our users:

Because of a recent rise in spamming and trolling activities on the forum and chat, we've added a 48 hour waiting period for all new users to use these features. We have done this to try and deter spammers and trolls from making new accounts to engage in activities on the chat and forums. Because Interpals.net promises to stay a free website, this makes it very easy for abusive members to create multiple accounts without worry. With the addition of the 48 hour waiting period, we hope that our problematic users will be deterred in their activities and the amount of spamming and trolling on the forums and chat will go down.

- As always, spamming and trolling is always an issue we are dealing with. We will never get to where we want to be, a free website without trolls, but we hope that this new feature will help us get there.

This announcement was made so all new users will understand why they are unable to post on the forums or chat when they join. We in no way, wish you to not join in our activities, we are just trying to take steps to deter the users no one wants around.

Thank you for your understanding,
- The Interpals Staff

This is a lovely idea and I back it 100%, but what have you done with the people who make a number of new accounts at the same time and then get back on their normal account for the 2 days? I know this is hard to control, but there have been a number of people who are "normals" in the chat and will make a number of accounts and then they do something where they get a few of the names in there at the same time. I just wanted to ask that/bring that to your attention, if you haven't already been told about it. Someone told me the best thing to do is to just report the number of other accounts that the person has. So, I do that and the user just keeps making new accounts. I think that this user has close to 20 accounts. She has ones where she lies and says that she is a male from New Zeland when she is really a female from Europe. Anyway, I know that this is hard to control.

Anyway, great idea and keep up the good work admin/mods. Äà (y)

Hey azzurri16, weird seeing you on the forums lol

We (as is every other chat-able website) will always face problematic people, there will never be a time when there are no problems, and never have to deal with them - that being said there are a few features in interpals that take care of users who make multiple accounts at the same time, I wont go to much into detail, but the basics of it are that we know who each account really belongs to, its just a matter of finding one, and the others will come out.

But as a main source of dealing with these people, we rely on our chat moderators, and even more so the members of interpals to report the offenders, with a clear log of what the violations were. All it takes is a user report, and we can take care of the rest.

We'll always be deleting accounts, just as they'll all be making accounts.

Well said. I'm locking this topic so that the point is not left in the dust.
