It is definitely possible, although the assumption would be that the exchanges would be based on the foundation of honesty between both parties. However, as someone rightly pointed out, one would not be exposed to the bad habits of the other as one would in person. Thus, there is a need to be realistic in the expectations. Long distance certainly is hard, and one must be prepared for the eventual possibility of no conclusion as well. Yet, in the face of all these obstacles, there are success stories as well. In the end, it is up to the commitment of both individuals.

It is definitely possible to "fall for" someone only through e-mails. But you have to meet in person and spend a substantial amount of time together before you can know if you have the sort of love and compatiability that can sustain a long term relationship.

My advice is to not develop unrealistic expectations before you meet. That way you can save yourself the potential disappointment and heartache that was based on fantasy rather than real life.

I met my husband online, we've been together 3+ years now Óñìèõâàíå :)
And although i am "proof" that this can work, i must say that the man i met in person was MUCH different than the man i had thought he was online, luckly in my case i liked him better in person, for different reasons.
I would NEVER, ever recommend online dating or a long distance relationship to someone, it is much too hard, and unless both people are fully comitted to making it work it could turn out horribly.
