Who's read the books and what did you think of them versus the movie?

I saw the films in swedish before I read the books. I enjoyed the books more than the movies, but the movies were good too maybe just last to long for me or maybe because I compared the books and the movies afterwords

I've seen the Swedish movies, and I liked them to a degree. Not exactly my favorite genre, though.

Everyone is talking about those books! I feel kind of ashamed, because I, who's a Swede haven't read them when it seems like all non-Swedes have. Maybe I should?

I didn't care for either but if you like the genre (Scandinavian mystery/crime) I recommend Jo Nesbo's The Snowman. It was excellent. He's a Norwegian writer.
