I'm fairly new to the forums, but not to penpalling, and certainly not knitting. Any writers who predominantly knit? I would love to find a penpal or two so we can chat about yarns & projects. Maybe swap "project kits", of sorts.

What is your current project?

I have recently taught myself to knit again after many years of being on the road with a hobby. I bought a large book with about 200 pages of different stitches in it starting with the easiest and working to the most difficult. Then I chose a medium weight yarn in 3 different earthy colors, and started to work. I'm making an afghan for my office, and I'm just going through the book teaching myself as I make the squares. It won't be pretty, but it will be useful, and by the time I'm done with it I'll have a good handle on the skill.

I also sew, and do needlework; cross-stitch and embroidery, so I understand the pattern alterations called for when knitting a garment. My mom was a knitter too, and a good one; she also did needlepoint. My grandmother did it all, including tatting, which I can't even begin to attempt, although I would like to teach myself how to crochet.

What's your current project? Do you have a favorite thing to knit? A favorite type of yarn to work with?

Thank you for replying! Sounds like you come from a pretty crafty family. Knitting is pretty nifty, there is always something new to learn! I hope you have fun with the afghan. I crocheted one last summer & it certainly comes in handy this winter! I like to write my letters on the chaise by the window, the blanket is always nearby.

As far as sewing, I can really only hand sew. Quite terribly, actually. Ha ha. All I've needed to sew were liners for purses, hats or mittens.

My current project is a KAL my local knitting group is doing. The Lotus Bag from the first Stitch n' Bitch book.

All I have left to do is stitch the pieces together & sew the liner in.

I am mainly a sock knitter, and I do catch myself knitting wash cloths rather often because my children adopt them as "barbie rugs". Ha. My yarn of choice would have to be any alpaca yarn or blend. I'm pretty picky with acrylic and acrylic blends. I have been known to pick up a cashmere yarn so I can knit a scarf just to rub on my face. lmao. Do you have any yarn preferences? Favorite thing to craft?

I'm working on a oversized sweater right now. But i do have that book with the purse in it. I've made one of those thigh highs, and it came out pretty good but the yarn was too thick so it make s my leg look fat.

Howdy!

I'm a knitter/crocheter/crafter.

I have a couple things on needles right now. I started a hooded scarf with pockets. I started it too late in the year...so I guess it will just have to be for NEXT winter. Razz

And today I just started making a hooded baby blanket with Bernat's pipsqueak yarn which is incredibly soft. If the kid doesn't like it...i'm just going to find more yarn and make it bigger for myself!

Hi Nicolas. I changed my settings because I got quite a few guys looking for romance. Being that I'm married, I did not welcome that at all. Even if I weren't married, I wouldn't welcome that. Ha.

Anyway, I changed my settings. Your settings are restricted to 35-56 year old females. I'm 25, so I couldn't send a message via profile. Let me know when we can swap messages & we can sort out details! Óñìèõâàíå :)
