I'm a mature easygoing man, single/divorced and not looking for romance. I have no hidden agenda, so if you are looking for a placid fairly intelligent penfriend please give me a try.

I'm Scottish from Motherwell, Lanarkshire, but have lived in Sydney, Australia for several years. I'm a former British soldier (Royal Army Medical Corps). During my military service I travelled quite a bit. I've slept on the mountain, in the desert and in the jungle.
I'm happily retired now, but my last full time position was as an ESL teacher in China. That was 2001-2004.
I enjoyed my holiday in Scotland during Aug/Sept last year (2008)  and have lots of nice pictures to share with you.

Just returned from holidaying in Scotland, (Aug/Sept 2009) now life is back to normal? It takes a while.

I'm very keen on photography, mostly digital nowadays which is fairly new to me, so I'm still learning the technical side of the art.
I love spending time on my computer/Internet and learning many things from searching/research. And I've enjoyed a couple of IT courses that I've taken recently!
I also like to keep physically fit with daily exercise including running a few kilometres. I enjoy Football (PLEASE don't call it soccer) and support the Scottish national side and my home-town team Motherwell FC. Go the mighty 'Well!!!! www.motherwellfc.co.uk
I also support St. Cuthbert Wandereres FC in the South of Scotland league. I played for them when I was young and lived in Kirkcudbright. (pron. Kirkcoobree) :)

I like Big-band jazz from Glen Miller to Stan Kenton.
'Something Cool' by June Christy is one of my favourite albums.
Also rock-n-roll in the form of Alan Parsons Project, Moody Blues, Billy Joel, Pink Floyd, The Shadows, Buddy Holly...(I'll never forget the day the music died).
Rita Coolidge is one of my favourite female singers.
Who doesn't enjoy The Beatles!

"The Shawshank Redemption" stands out: I thought "Million Dollar Baby" was a very entertaining film and so sad at the end. For those who remember Humphrey Bogart, "The Caine Mutiny" was one of his best films.
And of course 'Braveheart' is also a favourite!

Don't watch much TV. It's mostly crime and immorality and they wonder why the jails are filling!!:(

I don't have time to read fiction, but without a doubt I enjoy studying the Bible, and being guided by God's Word. But please don't worry, I won't Bible-bash you.
