It is 2:37 am (EST) in saluque's chosen time zone.

About Me:

I'm very happily married and not looking for a relationship (that's why I didn't check that (or the Romance) box on my profile;)

I am who I am. I spent most of my childhood as an outsider in school. I'm still not really sure why. I do have some odd fascinations - although I don't think so back then. Perhaps it was just my "strangeness." I've never felt like I belong in this world and in this time. People are far too self-centered and discourteous to each other. I wonder if this is so in the rest of the world? This is certainly one way to find out.

I am slow to warm up to people because I rarely trust anyone. I'm married to my soulmate. We have a house in New England, his 20-year-old son lives with us, we have two dogs and two cats. I drive a Jeep (LOVE it!) and work in a hospital as an executive secretary. Having worked as a paralegal for 15 years, this is a huge step up for me;)

Requests:

Please no American-haters. I get the impression that probably narrows the field down by quite a large number. I would love to have e-mail and/or snail mail communication with someone from anywhere in the world. Letter-writing has gone the way of the dinosaurs, I think, and it's too bad because it can be such a beautiful art - the penmanship, the putting together of words.

Interests, Hobbies, etc.:

reading, writing, knitting, occult studies, paranormal research, I love learning, am obssessed with words and their meanings. For that matter, I love to know how things work. I have been known to research the strangest things...for example, just last week, I was eating some sliced pineapple and wondered, "What IS a pineapple?" A Google search gave me some very interesting information about pineapples and Fibonacci numbers. See? That's what I mean.

Favorite Music:

"modern alternative," I think...see my favorite radio station's playlist at www.wbru.com

Favorite Movies:

Love classic films, sci-fi, old silents. I'm not big on romantic sob stories.

Favorite TV Shows:

Twilight Zone reruns, animal shows, hate reality TV, Lost is losing me, loved Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I'm hooked on Battlestar Galactica, Ghost Hunters (orig and international), TV Land, Torchwood, Dr. Who (orig and new).

Favorite Books:

Far too many to list! I am a voracious reader.

Favorite Quotes:

People have been standing for centuries before a
worm-eaten door, making pinholes in it with increasing
ease. The time has come to kick it down, for it is only
on the other side that everything begins. - Raoul Vaneigem

I can relate to that outsider feeling. School years were rough.
