About Me:

I'm chasing after my bliss... and I'm pretty sure the answers are within.

I´m very easy going, uncomplicated, and funny... Life´s way too short to not take it easy and have fun.
I studied to be an engineer, but didn´t finish because I had too many places to see. Now, after a few experiences and some interesting stories to tell, I´m finally finishing that degree. Let´s see how long can I delay finishing my masters! And I'm a happy camper because I just figured out what I want to do with my life: environmental engineering!
I believe that money spent on health, education, and travel will always be money well spent; that religion often is like living your spiritual journey through someone else´s; and that peanut butter and dill pickle sandwiches are delicious and should be considered their own food group.
Ah, and like George Carlin said: I´m an alpha male on beta blockers! (If you don´t know who Carlin is, you are missing a lot.)
Three things I would change in the world if I could:
1. Strong, healthy nuclear families would be the norm.
2. Free education would be universal.
3. The societal attitute of the global village would be towards unity and conservation instead of segregation and consumerism.

Requests:

I´m interested in improving on my French and do something pronto about my crappy German because it sucks.

Language Exchange Requests:

Spanish is my native language.
English is as if it were my native language.
French I speak well, but not like the other two.

German... well, as of right now, I suck at it. HELP! This is why I got into this site in the first place.

Dutch I have dabbled into, but I really don´t have a solid grasp of the language at all. Any takers?

I´m good at teaching people and I have a good working knowledge of the grammar as well as of the idioms and nuances of the three languages I speak well. I have no problem helping out anybody who really wants to learn anything I know.

Interests, Hobbies, etc.:

I read a lot so I must like it very much (learning new things keeps your neurons in shape, you know). I enjoy the outdoors but in moderation. I work out... every once in a while. I travel whenever I can afford it.
I dance whenever I get a chance, because well, the groove is in the heart. I play tennis and I don´t look all too shabby doing it. Riding my bike is like my meditation... now if I only fell off of it less often...

Favorite Music:

Anything and everything with one exception: polka. I must live in a polka-free environment. I like women singers a lot, except when they get too angry in their lyrics.

Favorite Movies:

When Harry Met Sally is pretty high on my list even though it´s the ultimate chick flick. But I make up for it with Fight Club (the final twist kicks butt!). Of course there´s Breakfast at Tiffany´s starring the most perfect woman to set foot on this earth: Audrey Hepburn (oh, yeah!). Sonnenallee´s very good too! And for those of you with guts, there's Waking Life (whoever watches it and understands it on the first sitting, my respects go out to him/her)

Favorite TV Shows:

Battlestar Galactica (the new series) was pretty good. Lost kept me interested. Family Guy was very funny until McFarland ran out of ideas. Ah, and let´s not forget Pushing Daisies, the narrative style of the show is very engaging and funny (bummer it got canned by the network).

Favorite Books:

Catch 22 (Heller), Chronicle of a Death Foretold (Marquez), The Road to Reality (Penrose) -which is dry as heck but amazingly clear, if  math doesn´t scare you that is. Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance (Pirsig)

Favorite Quotes:

"A single gentle rain turns the grass many shades greener", Henry David Thoreau (my most favorite American philosopher).

"Small people talk about other people, bigger people talk about events, great people talk about ideas", I don´t know who came up with this one. Let me know if you do... A-ha! It´s by Fran Lebowitz, thanks so much bla778!

"Der Funke des Lebens is nicht Nützlichkeit nicht Luxus.
Er ist Bewegung, Einsicht, Farbe, Liebe, Erkenntnis, Toleranz und Gleichgewicht!", I just plagiarized this from a picture my cousin sent me of the Berlin wall.

And I just stole this one, because I liked it:
"Work like you don't need the money, love like you've never been hurt, dance like no-one is watching"

"You did what you knew how to do, and when you knew better, you did better", Maya Angelou
