About Me:
My name is Vicky, I'm 20 years old and originally from Derbyshire in England.
I'm currently studying for a nursing degree at the University of Birmingham and will soon be starting my third and final year.
I love being a student and although nervous, I can't wait to be a fully qualified nurse :-)
Generally I'm a friendly and down to earth person, I enjoy meeting new people especially those who have a totally different kind of life to my own!

hi how are you beautiful?
you don't happen to know an Alix Brookes do you? she's doing a nursing degree at birmingham as well I think? :)
Aww it'll go SO quick :) Are you doing the degree or the diploma course? With the degree course the 2nd year was the hardest so you've nothing to worry about now :) I qualified in Leeds as a Mental Health Nurse...its scary saying 'im a nurse' now compared to 'im a student nurse' haha xxx
Good luck with your final year at uni :) Ive just qualified as a nurse xx
Haha...oh right...the smells. Well that's why we get to wear masks, right :-p
Here is a thought. Perhaps these careers are seen as sexy because of the salary a person can earn. These above average wages can be quite a healthy sum at times. And as you know, the mass media has long linked sex, love and money into one chain in the eye of the public. So when a person thinks 'doctor'...the idea of money...and then sex falls into place quickly enough.
Actually real life and today's horror movies aren't to distant anymore. Not to long ago I did a little work in acting and film, and you'll be surprised to learn that you can't really tell what is real and what is fake anymore. The visuals are just too close...and I think that the movies would be more gory than in real life most times anyway ;-)
To me it's not about whom I work with. I wouldn't mind working with adults and just the same I wouldn't mind working with babies, kids, teens, youths or the elderly. It's more of a passion to help those - anyone actually who needs it. After all, if you're going to slip on a glove to check a guy's prostate...I think that passion to help becomes an asset :-p
Not everyone realises what we actually have to do sometimes and that's a shame.
Yup - that's true. When working in medical, every day is a new experience. Not all of those experiences will be positive of course, but there will always be something to learn. Good olde NHS haha.
So by this time, you would be on training right?

Cool - you must be really excited I'm sure. Isn't it funny how beautiful careers like being a doctor or nurse holds that aura of sex appeal in the eye of the public and yet has nothing to do of the sort haha.
What part interests me...this may seem to be a funny answer but...the part of helping people. I think that's where the passion is - I just love to help people. I help my friends unconditionally all the time to the point where they wonder why am I doing this. Funny eh?
It's not to say that I don't have an interest in the field itself. The biological sciences are quite interesting and I am addicited to the stuff. The only problem was my fear of blood in the past, but over the years I've watched enough horror movies to get over that :-p
So then...why a nurse? What excites and motivates you in this particular field of work?

Birmingham uni in selly oak is nice, victorian.....but Birmingham isn't!...i can say that though
Yeah I am actually. For some time I was doing a little training in my passion - acting and film; and over the summer I've worked at a theatre in the city. Been pretty cool and fun...but now its time to get studying again - I'm aiming for medicine so it's books here on out haha. Major geek style :-p
So how about you? What does the dark magical future hold for yourself?

Hi Vicky. Greetings from faraway Manchester haha. I'm out to meet some new people before college resumes and steals away my life :-p
Hope you don't mind a chat these last few dreary days.
