To everyone who has wondered, I was out travelling for a bit, so have been unable to hang around this site for the last three-or-so months. Apologies for anyone who may have wondered where I went, as I forgot to put up a notice. Anyhoo, I'm back again, yay.

I am a finnish guy, looking for someone interested in a little chat every now and then, I am eager to discuss things, and like to make observations​ about cultural differences,​ so if you are willing to discuss your own (or mine, or someone elses) culture and make observations​ with me, I'd be delighted to participate.​

Oh, many women in their profile texts seem to be worried about men being pushy, or looking for a relationship​, so I want to say, I'm not like that and therefore I'm safe :)


I am a student in a finnish Uni. majoring in media technology. That means it has to do with anything where information is conveyed to a large number of people, so it involves systems like the Internet, TV, radio, print media and so on.

I am sometimes a little blunt, or joky about various subjects, so be advised! Especially when communicatin​g across cultural boundaries, some faux pas are bound to happen, I do my best to be, well if not polite enough for an emperor, at least civil. Well, most of the time anyways ;)

HOX:​ I hope people to contact me would introduce themselves, I'm interested in people, so please do tell me something about yourself, to example, what is your strongest opinion? What is something you firmly belive to be right/wrong/​logical/good​/bad, anything, that way we have more to talk about :)

I am especially interested in getting to know people from Asia, particularly​, Chinese, as I'm likely going to exchange to Jinan, China in spring 2009.
I hope the person to contact me, would speak decent english (or finnish :-P ), as it's likely to be the only common language we'll have. I don't mind teaching though, so no worries!

Finnish is my native language, English the second, and I\'m not bad at that.
I am bad at Swedish, but do speak a little.
I also have tried to learn Japanese, Vietnamese and even Chinese (for purposes of exchange), with little results :(

I have a general interest in Asian cultures, technology, movies, and music. I like to debate, an discuss things, often in depth, regardless of topic, be it philosophy, sciences, fashion or relationship​s, it's all good!

I listen to a lot of different music, ranging from 21st century R&B to fifties easy listening, classical, or hard rock. Someone asked more details (people are strangely interested, dunno why) so, to clarify, I've been listening to some Chinese music now, to get a feel of it. I don't understand a word though.

This is a tough one. I really liked Memento, the LOTR trilogy was also a nice homage to the books.. The Last Samurai was good, even if clearly geared towards non-asian audience. I've watched a lot of stuff from Studio Ghibli, they are all great, somehow animation let's the viewer concentrate on things, when there is less going on on the screen at any one time, perhaps it also allows perfect creative control, things going on on actors faces and the background are difficult to control.

Currently watching Terminator, the Sarah Connor Chronicles, it's OK, not as good as it could, but certainly not bad either. I was disappointed​ to hear they pulled the plug on it.

I read a lot of factual literature (or so I try to tell myself), which is, for purposes of "favori​te books" quite boring, so I'm gonna say, Iain M. Banks's Culture books (brilliant!)​ Adams's Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy, or such classics. I also liked Abo Rasoul's Macht und Rebel, twisted as it was... :-/
